Hey y'all
I'm super confused as to what foxtailing even is. I saw a picture on Google and I get that it's fingers coming off of the colas, but :
1. Is it bad? Is it good? It seems as though it might be a matter of opinion? I've read that most people want those nice dense buds and foxtails are light and airy. True or false? Is it truly that horrible?
2. What really causes it? I've read that it is strain driven but that certain environmental aspects might provoke it such as excess heat, light, nutes, and such. True, false or otherwise?
Thanks everyone!!

"....in theory, the soil will constipate your plants."
I'm no pro, but I do have a flowering tree that is too big for her tent; as a result, she has a canopy that is very close to the light. The closer to the light, the more heat (of course). The buds on my tree are fluffy and foxtail closest to the light, whereas the further from my light, the less fox tailing. Closer to light and heat = fluffy "airy" bud. Further from light = compressed dense nugs.
Good or bad? Well, dense technically means greater yield weight. As far as bud preference is concerned, I suppose I do enjoy a fluffy cloud in my bowl as much as a crunchy nugget, so long as both treat me right. Peace.

DSCN5911.jpgDSCN5906.jpg Here's a couple examples of foxtailing. These were allowed to flower for almost 12 weeks. Once the bud can't pack itself in any tighter, it starts twirling up and out into "fox tails"
true foxtailing sucks had it with a few last grow cutting it off doesnt help
buds just never finish and get airy
heard it is caused by gibberic acid in nutes
given all conditions are correct any strain will fox tail it not a bad thing the bract's(calaxs) cant increase intrenal desity anymore this growth is forced up n outward in short gone just tad over in most cases some just foxtail from da go
