leaves point up , is this a problem?

I just bought a 135 led and put it in middle of a 4x4 area on top of my cfl's, increasing the total amount of light.. all the plants did the same thing, i take this as a very healthy, positive thing. If you ever seen outside grows, the plants in full sun all do this, thier leaves sometimes point almost straight up and the plants look like a total different breed and its because they have the " real" light, the Sun. The ones outside that are getting more shade look like the ones inside. Just an old growers observations, dont have no science info backing it up.

You are right!! Nice active healthy happy plants will point up, when leaves start drooping that's a problem!

its normal imo, it will have a growth spurt when it is switched to flower cycle keep doin what your doin.

that is what all healthy plants do. if they are reaching for the sun , they are healthy, plain an simple.

Yep plants reach and stretch lots. Bottom fan leaves often have very elongated stems to push the leaf from out of the shade at the bottom.

The plants healthy end of really and it looks like its stretching to reach more light, leaves do point up when reaching for best light position and as i said only my biggest and healthiest do this, when they reach that stronger light they level out.

Im with everyone who says this plants healthy, quite obviously 250watt cfl is a weak light for plants no matter which way you slice it, not that it wont give a decent harvest but come on its a million miles away from emulating the sun. Years of growing with 250watt cfls shows me this is perfectly normal.

Flower in a week or so or you will have lots of popcorn bud down below where the 250watt penetration is at its weakest. By the time your plant actually flowers two to three weeks growth would have packed on so would be at perfect size by then for a 250watt cfl.

I tried it many ways with cfls so anything i say is really from a lot of experience and i too have the same symptoms on my healthiest fastest growing plants, all other variables are perfect.

ofcourse .. i try to explain.. The truth is i did nothing special.. I bought soil for leafy plants.. i thought that cannabis is a leafy plant , then i should buy this soil.. There are alot of human hair in the soil.

7 litre pot / %30 perlit , %70 soil .. Humidity always very high.. Temp betwen 25c - 30c .. I didnt use fertilizer yet.. Plant is 19 day old now.. Long story short , kept humidty high and give water every 5 day.. kept light close to plant.. thats it.. Oh and i spoke with the plant everyday

one, the light is not strong enough, so move it closer, or up its lumens.

two, the night temps are not low enough so when the light goes out the plant keeps stretching for light for a few hours as she thinks it is still daytime but the sun has been blocked out.

the night temps are better if they are 12-15c below day temps and get the temps down quick, you know how fast it gets cold in nature when the sun goes down.

yes i belive my problem was that because temp only 4c below at dark period..

So we see how plant leaves stretch in healthy growth, small variables dont really affect growth much. I too use a similar soil and mix but by day 19 i have dosed a small amount of biobizz and started my fertilizer regime. Those bottom leaves are slightly deficient but also the soil drying too much (mainly the top layers and a few inches down) can deprive the bottom leaves of nutes and moisture.

Basically i reckon you need to consider starting ferts at low doses and building up plus now the root system is bigger and reaching through most of the soil pay close attention to not overwatering or underwatering the soil plus keeping 90percent of the mass of roots in a moist (i didnt say wet or saturated) environment at all times.

When we talk about the soil drying we dont mean dry as any root hairs that arent in moisture or a very humid environment like 100percent humidity will start to die or dry off and never work again forcing the plant to grow more root mass elsewhere which in a small pot is tricky sometimes. In a nutshell you are at the stage where you need to get the ferts and watering spot on, of course people will say the first bottom leaves die off naturtally etc etc but these first two true/serated leaves are an ideal indicator of certain variables like deficiency in veg ferts or underwatering.

Personally my bottom two leaves dont die or fall of till the resulting branches at the internode are so thick that the leaf naturally is dropped. You didnt top her and flip to 12/12 when i said unfortunatly, plant is getting too tall with hardly any side branches but thats just my way, usefull penetration from a 250watt is no more than 30cm with anything lower being fluffy as hell. Its pretty much fact that tin foil is a weak reflector of light, plain white paper or similar out performs tinfoil every time.
