Springtails Eating Bark off my Babes - Tell me how to murk 'em

Title says it all, I'm pretty sure they are springtails, since that is the only thing online that looks even remotely like what my problem is.

They show up after watering.

How to kill????

If you're talking about how the stalk sheds it's "skin", that's normal and to be expected... that's how it gets thicker.

neem oil is what i would recommend. i use it for my bug spray after i noticed mites and its murking them. it kills most bugs and is natural. buy from armstrong garnden stores for about 20 bones or hit up your local hydro store or internet store?

If you know so little about springtails, how are you in any position to be recommending he put neem oil on his plant?

I have no idea what a Spring tail is. But an insect does not have to do damage to be catagoried as a pest. Also, What the Hell is Murking? hahaha Is this new lingo, or am I missing something from my vocabulary?

If they show up when you water them, I would think the are down inside your soil. Try going in to your grow room before you water and disturb the top 1 inch of soil and see what happens.

Springtails are common and almost all species harmless, they come from a big species that live have colonized every environment, the sea, caves, soil, etc etc even your houses. In soil they are harmless and benificial soil organisms, too many normally dictates your keeping the soil too wet for too long as they love water and moisture, die quick in the dry.

Easiest way to know if you got springtails is to watch if they hop away when startled, so called cause they got an appendage under the abdomen which allows them to hop away from predators, they like to cluster together in the water and float on the surface tension which they can walk over.

Easy small little bugs to identify, there harmless and live in the soil and on it not on the plants. Peace

Well, the bark of my plant was completely stripped off about 1 inch above the soil and beneath it, with these springtail looking larvae crawling on them. I am sure it is NOT fungus gnats. What gives ya'll?

I've searched and it says that if they run out of stuff to eat they will eat your roots.

Springtails cant run out of stuff to eat in soil, thats what they eat. It dosent sound like springtails if there attacking and eating the bottom of your plant! Peace

Springtails are fast and hop a lot.

Ugh, what could be eating my plants then? Any ideas? I went back out and seven dusted the shit out of them and hit it up with some natria spray.

I'm so PISSED. These babies are rocking, now this shit.

mosquito dunks. soap. neem oil. iv seen fungus gnats do that. i wouldnt count them out. but soap kills everything. id soak the wounded area.

Hey there , I tried once to clean the coco soil of my roots with green soap and I didn't see those bastards for whole 3 weeks then sudden they came back , but as far as i know they will not harm your plants they are just silly little bastards who likes fucking around in your soil. But as I say you can try to clean your soil of with green soap and maby you get more lucky then i did . Good luck And also try to dry your soil and not water it more then 1-2 time per week

Just treat the soil every watering then, i use gnatoff which is a bacteria that kills larvae in 24hours, i cant get rid of my fungus gnats but they cause me no problems or damage to roots as the larvae are well taken care off, the adult flies i believe are harmless and dont do any damage to plants except lay more eggs and root eating larvae. peace
