Canoeing What Causes It?

what causes canoeing ? My Sour D does it every time I put them in to flower, also the leaves point straight up for first 3-4 weeks. I'm using Royal Gold basement mix and just Ph water for first couple of weeks then start nutes at 1/4 strength. I don't get it, and I am not a noob.Anybody have any ideas?...:-? + rep for good resposes.

i've always thought that most canoeing comes from heat stress.. how much lighting and how close are your plants to that light now?? i am having the same issue on my current grow, and i was told it was from some minor heat stress..

I'm running a 1000W HPS in a 4x4 tent temps are always 77 day/ and 70 at night . I start them at 4 feet , after a couple weeks I go to 3 feet . I have 8 different strains and no others do this.

I am also researching this phenomenon, had some fairly young ones do the same, for whatever reason they are straightened out now...I think it was because they were just getting acclimated to the sun. in some circles this is called "boosting?" I believe. I'd say for a deeper understanding read up on the phenomenon regarding different plant species and see what you come up with? at least that's my take on the matter, doesn't help much I know, but GL either way? Rep for posting this! \m/

..just checked a few other postings on the matter in another forum and everyone basically praised it saying it's a great thing...means the plants are extremely happy and praying to the HPS gods lol. Hope that's the case man :blsmoke: GL

a little mag deficient maybe? or simply light lovers reaching & wanting to get closer :) u said urself that it occurs for only about 3 weeks, of course by that time ur light is 1 foot closer. start the light off at 3 feet next time, & then take note of the difference.

I don't think its a cal/mag problem, for that matter I don't even think I have a problem . The plants are healthy and vigarus just canoeing and upward growth. How ever I'm pick'in up what you're laying down about the light distance.I,ll check it out thanks.:peace:

You answered your own question in the next post.

If only one out of 8 strains is doing this, it has to be genetics.

Are you planning on running that many strains at once in the future? I'm just getting to know the one strain I've been running for going on 2 years.

I don't flower more than a couple of strains at a time tall with tall and short with short I keep 8 mothers and only clone the strains I want to flower, right now I'm flowering S.D. and Blue Dot and when those are done I've got cheese and the Purps on deck in veg. I will soon take clones from two other strains and so on. For years I grew only two strains C99 and AK- 47 both great strains but I just got burned out on the same old, same old . Its still pretty easy to get dialed in on each strains needs. I just like variety and this is my hobby so I figure fuck it, why not? S.D. is relatively new to me, it looks like it is genetic after seeing Mango's pic. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a sign of stress.Thanks...J.L....:peace:
