will they continue to grow?

Hey guys and girls, just regestered on site today, as i was searching the net tryin to find some answers to the problems i been having so....here goes

around 2 weeks ago i bought 1 automatic lowgirl an 2 automatic low riders, I setup a grow in my bedroom inside the wardrobe with a 400w metal halide and 2 fans,. ...things were goin ok for a while then i notice temps were above 30 during the day and that that soil was dryin out v quickly so i added another fan, ...around 2 days later the main fan did not come on when the light came on inside the wardrobe as the timer must have gotten turn off by mistake, so when i checked the wardrobe the tempreture was around 42 degrees and that the plants looked all curled up and there was a tiny little bug fly thing running about inside with ther plants (at this stage the only had there first two little leafs on there)...anyways,took them out straight away and disinfected the wardrobe and changed the soil ( incase it was in some way infected) and keeped them in my living room for a around a week or so and they seem to be recovering????? I have now purchased a grow tent as I now know that its to much hassel in a wardrobe

questions :
1: will these plants hermy as they seem to have been "shocked" in early growth stage
2: my temp is 27.4 degrees and humidity is 57% is this acceptable growing conditions
3:how far away from mh light should the plants be during veg
4: any recommended soils i should be using, I am simply using miracle grow as i could not get any perlite to mix with soil

ps any grow tent setup pics that ppl have would be appreciated as we doing it for the first time as seen in pic ( there is a standard 6inch fan blowing in through the intake section of the tent just outside the picture)
