PLEASE HELP! unkown problem first grow.

OK so the leaves on the bottom are turning yellowish and are drooping.. The pot that it is in is poretty deep so im wondering if they arent getting enought sunlight?? outdoor grow, about month and a week old. please help! thank you!

First you should fill the pot with dirt, not just half full. Fill it to about an inch from the top of the pot. Of course that means taking the plant out, adding more dirt, and basically repotting it back in. Don't just fill the pot up with dirt and cover half the plant.

Also if it is 4-5 weeks old it is time to start adding nutrients if you haven't already. Since you don't have a lot of dirt the plant probably used up all the nutes in that dirt pretty quickly. Also since you're adding more soil and if this is the first feeding, only give the nutes at 1/2 strength.

The plant looks pretty good otherwise, just get it repotted with more soil and feed if you need to.

?!?! how exactly do i add nutrients? i initially had miracle grow with 3 month time release nutes, but this is my first grow. and arent plants supposed to just live? thats how they did it before beople starting farming and stuff, they just grew

To add nutrients you have to go to the store and buy some, then mix them into your water when you water the plant. The time-release nutrients are not good to use because you can't control what gets released and when.

Plants will just live if they are growing out of the ground, but in that tiny pot your plant has sucked all the nutrition out of that soil and the roots have nowhere else to go to get more nutrition. That's why you have to add it in.

If you're keeping it outside anyway, do you have a little garden area that you could plant it directly into the ground? You won't have to worry about nutrients as much if you do that. It all depends on how good the soil you plant it in is.

Well, it's up to you, but those time-release fertilizers are not good either. You need to get a good potting soil like Fox Farm Ocean Forest without any time-release fertilizers and transplant those if you want to keep them in pots. Or go dig up a spot outside, like 2 feet by 2 feet by 1 foot deep, or deeper if you can. Then get some good outdoor soil fertilizer like Fox Farm Original Planting Mix:

If you don't want to pay for the Foxfarm stuff, since it is pricey, look for Cow & Peat fertilizer/compost and use that instead. Mix the foxfarm or other in with some topsoil and maybe a little of the dirt you dug out of the hole, and fill the hole with this mixture. This will help your plant to be able to grow in soil that is otherwise not very good. Just make sure you don't fill the hole completely with the fertilizer/compost material. It is meant to be mixed with other soil and if you use it straight it will be too much fertilizer and could burn your plants.

I dont have that stuff, and have no way of gettiing it. Can i mix mirale grow with the soil there? and then transplant it inot the ground? and sorry i know im a newb but how exactly do i take it out of the pot, and into the soil because its not the stongest plant. i can still bend the stem and i dont want to fuck it up

Yes, you can try doing that with the MG and the soil, but I don't know if it will like it or not. If you have no way to get better soil, I guess it will have to do.

When you transplant, try to do it when the soil is not too wet, and not too dry, but right in the middle.

Try to pick the spot that will get the most sun during the day. MJ likes to have lots of full sun! Once you have a place to put it, dig a hole in the ground and mix in some MG, make sure you mix it up well with the existing soil. You should try to dig a hole at least 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot deep. Once you have the hole dug and the dirt prepared make a hole in the middle of your good dirt that is a little bigger than your pot. Since your pot is not full of dirt only make it as deep as your pot is full. Set the dirt to the sides of the hole so you can push it in and around the plant that you're going to put in there.

Now bring the pot with the plant in it over to the hole. Squeeze the sides of the pot gently all the way around to loosen the soil's grip on the sides of the pot. Then put your hand over the top of the dirt with the stem of the plant between your fingers. Next you need to turn the pot on its side and try to get the root ball and dirt to come out of the pot. You may have to turn the pot completely upside down, but with your hand in the correct position covering most of the soil with the stem between your fingers you can hold the plant this way for a moment. Just don't grab the stem and pull up on it, you will risk ripping it out of the dirt that way.

Get as much of the original dirt to stay on the roots as you can, and stick the whole root ball into the hole you made earlier. Try to make sure the stem is straight up, and at the correct level with the ground, and gently pack the good dirt in around the plant. Make sure to press down gently all the way around the plant until the soil feels pretty firm. Don't push too hard, you just want to make sure it isn't going to float away when you water it.

Next, give it some water, and if some of the dirt sinks in around the plant anywhere, put more dirt in there to make it even at ground level all the way around the plant. You should water it at least once a day for a few days after you put it in the ground to help it survive the transplant.

I can't guarantee that this will work if the soil is as bad as you say and you are using MG, but it is a weed and outside in the sun it will grow as long as something isn't horribly off. When you are getting the MG, try to get the Organic version or some version that doesn't have time-release fertilzers in it. Also, if you have someone who can help you that has transplanted a plant before, sometimes it is easier to watch someone do it than to try to read about it and do it by yourself.
