I was trying to get the shell off a sprout and of course I severed one of the cotyledons. Think it can still survive?

P.S. - I am thinking it can live with just one- just like Pirates with a pegleg or eyepatch, kidney donors, etc.

nice analogy, but it should survive, unless you broke a growing tip off with the cotyledon

Well the surviving cotyl looks a little beat up. But the growing part with the next set of leaves is intact.
