Transplant Shock. Signs of recovery??

Hey 1'st time grower here, just wonder how long it takes for a plant to recover from being transplanted. For 3 days the leaves were yellowing and drooping, now I have some new Green growth. Can I start watering more heavily now?? The old leaves that came with the clones are almost all dying.

I have to agree from the pics the soil looks pretty compact and appears to be some mulch like material?

When I transplanted my plants from dirt to hydro, they took quite a shock, but I transplanted after they were much bigger. The growth was stunted for about a week iirc, but after they got back into gear it was 2-4" a day sometimes.

Also, I strongly recommend Revive to anyone experiencing plant shock, stress, or root problems. I had a case of all three, with 1/2 my root ball infected with root rot because I didnt pull out of an 8" pot. I ripped off all the stank nasty roots, and dipped them in some warm water and revive mixture for about 30 seconds, then put into action in a 15gal hydro setup. I used 250mL once a week thereafter, added directly to reservoir when I changed nutes. Root rot has been cleared up after about 3 weeks, and new root growth has occurred in excess of 4"

I have also tried using a little added with penetrator and liquid light and my curled, eagle claw leaves of plant with root binding improved very quickly, like 10 days. I not have strong bud growth.

I wasnt sure if I should still be adding nutes when using miracle grow pre feed soil, Ill head to the hydro store in morning, any suggestions on what product's I should purchase?? A list would be nice.

hey dint noe u was usin MG, soil looks like mulch mix wit a lil soil, but dont feed yet if u have time-release cux u jus transplant let the plant root into the new soil and jus water norml and the time release will take care of the yellowin for bout 2wks then start feedin. but yea ur soil does not look like mg or any soil ive seen wat u mixed mulch or dead grass clipping?

Get some fox farms big bloom and feed small doses and those plants will take off runnin and only feed every other water or so,good luck and do not over water let top of soil get dry and u should be ok!!

Im using this stuff. Didn't add any mulch but there are small pieces of "wood" in the mix lol is that bad?

yea u wont have to feed yet jus water normally and the time release will do its thing for bout 2wks

Do not give them any fert. That soil has enough nutes for more than two weeks of strong growth(alot more, if it's crappy growth). Looks to me like you have quite the strange watering ritual. Hmm....do you always water like that, only watering a couple spots, rather than covering all the soil? If that soil has dry pockets in it, new roots won't grow into that area. Give them a good watering, then wait a couple days. I bet ya they perk right up.

Light is very important too, so make sure you're not skimping on that. You need at least 3000 lumens per square foot, or they'll stretch, and be weak and spindly.

Im sorry, I should have clarified a little more.

If you are using miracle grow you do not need to add any fertilizers including fixes, because nutrient (salt) buildup will occur and your plants will be experiencing transplant shock as well as over fertilization.

The body of my post was an example of what I went through with my plants, using my transplanting from dirt to hydro. However, if using a commercial potted soil, you do not have to add the nutes. I personally dont know how to fix deficiencies this early on other than start with better soil. I am using the 3 month grow formula right now with a nirvana white widow plant just to get in started, then once it has about 6 nodes I am going to transplant it to a 6" net-pot (5gal-bucket-topper)

My recommendation is that you ride it out, because these plants are really quite fond of abuse. Let your plant recover and grow a few more nodes, then transplant to miracle gro mixed with much more perlite (it looks like) added. I dont have any recommendation as per soil, but I do highly recommend researching the hydro system, set it up right/completely, then transplant there once your plant is bigger and stronger. But I am biased. I cannot seem to start plants in rockwool, so I use miracle gro to start my plants then induct them into my world of abuse (if I havent done so already) by gently separating roots from what dirt I can, then highly recommend a dip in the revive/water solution, then lay roots on the hydroton/coco/etc and carefully pack medium around roots.

But thats my experience, and why I recommend such.

I also highly recommend reviewing at least 5 different grow threads dealing with same subject matter before making any impulse moves/purchases. This way, you dont get bad information, or like my post above, somewhat incomplete. Its best to get a wide scope if simply going by individual anecdotal evidence. Not all growers, grows, and plants are the same. Just like political polls; it is not a credible poll if you poll 200 people to represent the views of 408million Americans.

Sweet a appreciate all the input, they are looking about the same today with the exception of all the new green growth is getting more bushy and taller. I guess their ok now the bottom leaves have almost completley died now which i hear is normal. Just went and blew $200 on Cannabis growing books, got lots of reading to do, thanks again for the input.

Yes, saturate ALL the soil and then let dry out. The way those things are over potted, it will probably be a week or longer before you need to water again.

A good rule of thumb is, 1 gallon of pot size for every 5"+- of plant height.

Read your books though, before doing anything else.
