hey man, the 3 sets of leaves coming out of one node is called a trifoliate.its a bit hard to see in the pic but after looking closely i see wut your talking about. its a genetic mutation or flaw. but not really a flaw, the extra branch means an extra branch of buds =) this is very good my friend. very very uncommon. i have had one, it grew out of it after a couple nodes, but if it keeps the trait it whole life your lookin at 1 3rd more buds =). keep this plant happy and take clones if it keep the trait. good luck and good job!
i think he means three fingers not 3 leaves it doesnt look like three leaves per node in the pic but i could be wrong
Ive had a plant that was four all the way around, leaves and branches! it eventually grew out of it and went to three, then two. Never knew what kind of strain it was. Never found out about the yeild, as it ended with no flowers because of a problem at the tops of the lady. Never did find out what the problem was.
Still hate myself for that!! Damn!!
idk if im crazy but i cleary see 3 one finger leaves on the first node 3 3 finger leaves on the second node. the first pic is the trifoliate, the second pic is the normal seedling. i could be wrong tho lol
the leaves are blured together in the pic, try lookn at it like the biggest leaves are the 1 finger set(1st node) and the smaller ones are the second node. its kinda like the nodes are positioned in triangles(hence TRIfoliate) instead of directly across from each other
I have a strain of Durban Poison that produces a trifoliate seedling about 10% of the time. I've seen it more rarely in several other strains. I've also had a few quads as well.
Every one I've had reverted two normal growth before blooming. Sometimes these mutations occur on a single branch, during vegging, but a few nodes later, revert.
Usually, a trifoliate seedling will produce to main branches when it returns to normal growth. A quad will produce three main stems.
A friend did document a plant that remained trifoliate through budding. The finished khola was massive, but actually produced only a bit more than sister plants(from seed).

i bet if ya top it right above a node that has the trifoliate trait you would get many fat ass colas =)
iv gotta a trifoliate (wus a bit mutated) it kept the trait till the 4th node, i topped at the 8 th node but the trifolate nodes became the main tops =) ( pic of it flowering, its missing a couple tops cuz lights fell and snapped a few in half)
but idk it may be a good idea to try this with yours to maximize your yeild

your fine bro the plant is just immature when they are young they sometimes have just 3 leaves, but as the plant matures it will start getting five finger leaves. some plants will actually start out with leaves that have just a single blade instead of a regular looking 5 finger leaves
I guess I sounded like a NOOB when I posted but I have done 2 succesful grows on my own (with knowledge from this site). Im glad to here it is not some major defect. Im sorry I couldnt get a more clear picture but they are small as you said. They are very healthy besides the ones strange growth. Trifoliate, I couldve came up with that name myself haha. Thanks again for the responses, Ill post pics later I suppose so we can all see what happens.
The first pic is the "mutant" The leaves are coming out in sets of threes instead of the usual pairs. The second pic is same strain but the usual pair of leaves.

yeah dont worry about it. Mine started like that and through the grow some branches/nodes will stay that way and others will be normal 5 or 7 fingered leaves
