Red stems/yellow leaves???

Ok... I got 2 questions, Can low temperature cause red stems and yellowing of leaves? Second question... If havnt been giving enough water to a plant in soil can it cause root rot? I have had to relocate room and had a spell of a few weeks where had to give plants just enough to stay alive. since relocated and able to I have been watering enough to have water run out the bottoms. I heard its good in order to flush the soil a little by overwatering by 10%. Since the relocation I have noticed green in the runoff and a smell of swamp??? Will this cause red stems and yellowing leaves. The stems were never this red before . I have some new stuff(babies)in same room and have kept them on a good watering plan and dont have same problem. Thanks for any help in advance!!!

Usually low temperatures cause stems to turn more a purple-blue color, it may be a strain thing but since you also have yellowing leaves it probably has something to do with nutes.

Yes. If your medium is soil and you don't have drainage, water can still collect at the bottom even if you aren't watering enough. However, it's unlikely ;). Lol your problem almost definitely isn't root rot.

Thanks for the reply... The stems might actually be more purple than red, still confused tho. I am really wondering about the green run off and swampy smell. Hypotheticaly speaking if a person had green run off and a smell of swampy water coming from the runoff what symptoms would be present in the plants?
Thanks to all in advance!!!

Phosphorus (P) deficiency:Fan leaves are dark green or red/purple, and may turn yellow. Leaves may curl under, go brown and die. Small-formed buds are another main symptom.
Phosphorus deficiencies exhibit slow growing, weak and stunted plants with dark green or purple pigmentation in older leaves and stems.
Some deficiency during flowering is normal, but too much shouldn't be tolerated. Red petioles and stems are a normal, genetic characteristic for many varieties, plus it can also be a co-symptom of N, K, and Mg-deficiencies, so red stems are not a foolproof sign of P-deficiency. Too much P can lead to iron deficiency.
Purpling: accumulation of anthocyanin pigments; causes an overall dark green color with a purple, red, or blue tint, and is the common sign of phosphate deficiency. Some plant species and varieties respond to phosphate deficiency by yellowing instead of purpling. Purpling is natural to some healthy ornamentals.

idk mayb this..
