I have a closet box set up and I'm having problems getting the heat out. Currently running an intake vornado circular fan from my air conditioned room and have an inline duct fan hooked up to a carbon filter as the exhaust. It's a 4" in-line suncourt inductor fan that has 80 cfm from home depot, but it hasn't been giving much suction. I can't close the door to my box yet because even with the intake and exhaust heat will rise up to the high 80's low 90's. I'm considering buying the 6 in version of this in line duct fan which is supposed to do about 160 cfm, but that would mean having to redo the ducting and stretch all the holes from 4" to 6" and this would be timely and expensive. Another option I'm considering is setting up a plexi glass enclosing to surround the lights, and that way the 4" fan would have less area to cover and the heat would be trapped in the plexi glass while still giving off proper light to the plants. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Buy a 6 inch inline fan and 2 coupling adapters for 4 inches to 6 inches. Take your 4 inch ducting intake attach a 4 inch to 6 inch couplingto it and then add the 6 inch fan and then add another coupling but reverse it making it 6 inch to 4 inch back to your 4 inch ducting.

Yep Can filter to a 6" fan through your light and expelled w/ a return vent is a smell free option but dose require some $$$

Sorry i'm pretty amateur at this because it's my first grow, but I'm not sure what a centrifugal fan is or a can or vortex? And in response to dmidura, are you saying that I'm going to have an adapter that has both the 6" and 4" fan working as an exhaust. I have a circular vornado fan blowing in as a intake to the bottom of the box now and I just have a 4" hole on the light board that's connected to ducting then the 4" inline fan and thats connected to the carbon filter and the exhaust out the box. Not really sure what you're saying.

Use a passive intake. Suck the hot air out. Don't push air in unless you have a big grow. If you suck the air out you won't have a heat problem. i used to do closet grows and know from experience about inline duct fans. The grow faq has the information on passive intake for your grow.

I'm using an inline fan now. 4" inline duct fan with 80 cfm but it ain't doin anything. I may add a bathroom exhaust fan and set up another duct.
