Replace the 4 inch inline fan with a 6 inch inline fan. You will go from 80 cfm to 250 cfm. In order to use your existing four inch ducting lines use a 4 inch to 6 inch adapter then add your new 6 inch inline fan. You dont need to replace your 4 inch ducting with 6 inch ducting.

I suspect that your 4" filter looking for more like 200 cfm minimum to work properly. Have you tried to turn the intake fan around and make it an exhaust fan as well? In the short run I suspect that this will help but, in the end when the stink starts I think that you will have upgrade the other fan.

Anyone have any relative cheap fans out there that I could get a link too? I can't find any 6" fans with around 200 cfms for a decent price.

I think that the fan that you are using is a booster fan, just looking at the pix. The 8" booster at Home Depot is rated at 210 cfm free air, at $34 I don't think that you are going to be able to do a lot better. Your system is not ideal but, I work on the cheap as well. Did you try and turn that lower fan around?

does home depot sell the adapters to fit my 4 in ducting in the 8 in fan? i can't seem to find the adapters online. so passive intake with a that 8"in booster pulling about 210cfm should be good?

Businesslights.com

I have five (maybe six, not sure) of the Valueline centrifugal fans (both 6" and 4") and they work great.
