Transplant problems

I started 2 seeds in a heated plant starter tray, using seed starter mix. Only one came up.

It was almost touching the plastic cover, so I transplanted it into a big pot. 3 days later, the transplant was dead, the other one never came up.

Anyone have any advice? Thanks.
