Hi all,
My friend has a couple of feminized northern lights plants growing in a micro-cab LST system. They are currently just under 4 weeks into 24/0 veg under 4x30 watt 6500k cfls, growing in potting soil. Fed for first 3 weeks on just water (water pH tends to be just under 7) and now a week on miracle grow all-purpose (24-8-16) plant food at 1/2 strength. Both plants suffered a bit of heat burn at around week two due to insufficient ventilation, but that is now sorted and temperatures tend to run just over 80F (the brown edges to the older leaves are from this; new leaves are unaffected). Soil pH runs just under 7. Plant 1 seems to be doing quite well; lush, dark green leaves, starting to become shiney with resin, new shoots branching off all over the place now that the growing tip is tied down. Plant 2, however, has been looking rough for the last couple of weeks. as soon at the first leaf pair came out it looked different to plant 1; wider, shorter leaves which were slightly lighter in colour. Its always been a bit shorter, but seems to have barely grown at all in the past week. More worryingly, the new leaves are crinkled and light coloured, and some of the shoots growing out from the main canopy have very deformed leaf sets growing; round leaves, leaves with only two leaflets, and leaves without serrated edges. Looking at it this morning i think I can see a bit of a purplish tinge on the main stems but I can't be sure. We really don't understand what environmental factors could be making it grow so badly when the other plant is doing ok. Literally the only difference is that 'healthy' plant 1 has had more watering this week as it has been drying out it's pot in about 2-3 days, whereas the soil in plant 2's pot is still moist (although I take care not to over-water). My friend is on the verge of pulling the affected plant and germing another one or two to be grown 12/12 from seed whilst the first plant is flowering. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong, or would you agree that this plant is a duffer and needs to be chucked? Any help would be much appreciated. Grognak |

"plant 2" doesn't look all that bad... maybe some nute burn a few weeks back on those lower leaves, but I'm not really sure..
I probably wouldn't chuck it now though-- just bumping this for ya'll really... peace.
