Question Any ideas what this could mean..?
First off I thought I'd greet you all, since I've never made a thread here before and have only commented a few times. Anyways, nice to meet you all here - from reading around as much as I do on this site I get the impression many of you on here have a tremendous amount of knowledge with growing Cannabis.

Okay, anyhow... This is my second grow attempt... I have about 10 plants vegging now. I don't know what type it is, because I just used some of my many (I have like around 200-300 seeds left still ) seeds I took out from some of the pot I bought.

I am almost certain they are an Indica - probably a pure Indica - their mother(s) were grown in Albania (I know this because I know who brought them over here and where they came from).

Though I encounter little quirks with several of my plants every now and then, they are usually relatively minor things such as very subtle yellowing and a few tiny lice on a couple plants. But this issue just popped up over night and is the most distressing.

It only happened to a single plant, and since it happened on the top, I get the feeling it is related to being too close to the light source, and maybe I just caught it in time before the burn would have changed the color (as most heat stressed plants look a bit different).

I also can verify that this particular plant was incredibly close to the lights; in fact it may have even been touching one of the bulbs (though many of my other plants have done the same thing and didn't do this; possibly because I caught it earlier in those situations..?)

I typically keep the plants about 2 inches away from the lights, but every now and then they catch up quicker than I check on them and touch once in a while. Again, this is the only time I've seen this effect, though I have a couple other plants which did have very slight singed edges of heat-burn.

Obviously, I've already lowered the plant a few inches so it's not nearly as close - and for safe keeping I knocked my others down a tad.

It really seems to have only effected the second to freshest set of leaves at the top (aside from the set which is coming in now), though the edges of one of the blades of a leaf on the set lower got a tad of it as well.

So what do any of you gurus think..? Is this heat stress?

All of these pictures are of the same plant.

Oh, another question while I am at it - I read a comment someone said in another thread about light and roots not being best friends. Is this true that you should prevent the roots from getting light. Three of my pots are transparent (because they are just buckets I bought) - and this is one of them. Though I should point out that the other two haven't seen anything like this and one of them is actually one of my most healthy looking plants.

Actually, aside from this set of leaves that turned this way literally overnight, the rest of the plant is quite healthy looking as well.

Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated!

first off back off of any and all nutes you may be using, because it looks like the beginning of nute burn to me. You did correctly bringing the light up, leave it up for a couple days until you see green growth coming from the center (we need to make sure the plant "gets over it") also immediately transplant your plant into a container that isnt clear, light is NOT good for roots and can stunt growth/ lead to problems. other than that it looks ok.

The PH is somewhere in the 6 department. I'm not great at reading these color codes, but it's 6ish.

As for the nutrient burning idea - I think you're right. I hadn't even considered this since I typically water all the plants with the same fertilized water as often as each other, but still you never know - maybe I did put too much in this one, and I am always mixing different batches of waters for different plants. Plus, on closer inspection, the tip of a one of the blades one set down was turning reallly dark green - which would support that theory.

I brought it in the bathroom and flushed the soil thoroughly, because I understand this is what you should do to rid the soil of the nutrients..?

Another question here... Since this started up on basically one of the top most sets of leaves, am I to assume that nutrient burn occurs at the top first (contrary to deficiancy)? And does it always start at the top, or can it start anywhere..?

As for the transparent containers - I am going to duck tape around them so this shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the tips!

there is a ratio of how much water you need per gal of soil but i kinda do it by eye.

also, is 6 your water ph when you add it to the plants or is that the run off?? if its the water your adding then i'd put a fair bet that your run off is completly different. i use have used molasses, some canna products and other nutes, i've ph tested all of them and they all more acidic than i expected, around 5 mostly. nute and ph problems can be related.

i think that if i've got the ph to around the same in as whats coming out then they have been flushed ok.
