I'll assume you know what you're talking about and that the plants have nute burn.
Flush for a week with a 5% nute solution. By 'a week' I mean, water as you normally would after the soil dries out, but use the 5% solution to do so. Using no nutes at all is not a good idea because you may end up with nutrient lock. Nutrient lock can occur after a plant has been receiving nutes for a while then suddenly they stop coming; the plant 'thinks' there are no more nutrients to be had and will 'lock up' to preserve the nutes already in its system. Again, use a 5% solution of nutes and water to flush, not plain water. Water when the soil has dried out and not before. Use lots of water - until it comes out the drain holes - when you do water. (This would be 5% of your personal normal dose, not necessarily 5% of what it says on the label - see last big paragraph.) Shultz soil is a little heavy ... if you live in Canada get ProMix HP, ProMix BX, ProMix Potting and Seeding Mix or Sunshine Mix #4. If you don't live in Canada find a triple-mix by Fox Farm. (Also an option in Canada) (This is for next time and are my personal recommendations - not your only options of course.) If the plants haven't recovered after a week, do it again for another week. Miracle Grow ferts are highly concentrated and I usually tell beginners to stay away from them. I use MG Bud Booster as an additional additive to my flowering cycle but only about 1/5 of a teaspoon to 2 gallons of water - very little. (This is along with my other nutes during the 'normal' part of my bloom schedule.) Make sure you understand what a normal dose is for you. The recommendations on the labels of nutrients should be considered for use with 1000 watt lights or greater, or, for outside growing. If you have less light than that, your normal dose will be smaller. For example, if using a 400 watt light your normal dose will be about 1/2 of what it says to use on the label. (A VERY common mistake.) Another example: Let's say the label says to use 20 ml per 5 gallons of water. That's what you would use if you are growing outside or have 1000 watts of light or more. If you have a 400 watt, your dose would be 1/2 of that, or 10 ml per 5 gallons of water. If someone says use a 50% solution of nutes, for the person with the 1000 watt it would be 10 ml. For the person with the 400 watt it would be 5 ml. I think you get the idea now. (I made those numbers up for demonstration purposes.) Hope this helps. I think there was more I wanted to add but I've forgotten now. Last edited by Ativas; 04-28-2008 at 05:50 PM.. |
