Common problem - brown leaf tips in flower

Pretty sure this is a pretty common issue. About 1 month into flower, the tips of my leaves start browning. The very tips. Looks like nute burn or just straight burn from being too close to the light, but that's definitely not the issue.

I run a little hot at 85-90, 35-60 humidity depending.

For the most part this happens to the top of my plants. It doesn't really affect the bud or yield, it's just annoying. By the time im cutting there's always a few buds in each batch that are just completely covered in brown dead leaves. Really not sure what it is and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. I've attached a couple pics.

that looks like heat burn from the light, if its not affecting the bud try and add some fans. Personally i could live with as long as i got high.

lol ya, it doesnt affect the weed except the random bud like i said before. sometimes one or two can be brown all the way through. i guess it possibly could be burning from the lights, ill try adjusting a bit and see what happens.

ya it's definitely not a light issue. it's happening on lower leaves that are way too far from the light. it's some sort of deficiency im sure but i have no clue what. any ideas?

To use the Problem-Solver, simply start at #1 below. When you think you've found the problem, read the Nutrients section to learn more about it. Diagnose carefully before
making major changes.

1) a) If the problem affects only the bottom or middle of the plant go to #2.
b) If it affects only the top of the plant or the growing tips, skip to #10. If the problem seems to affect the entire plant equally, skip to #6.
2) a) Leaves are a uniform yellow or light green; leaves die & drop; growth is slow. Leaf margins are not curled-up noticeably. >> Nitrogen (N) deficiency.
b) If not, go to #3.
3) a) Margins of the leaves are turned up, and the tips may be twisted. Leaves are yellowing (and may turn brown), but the veins remain somewhat green. >> Magnesium (Mg) deficiency.
b) If not, go to #4.
4) a) Leaves are browning or yellowing. Yellow, brown, or necrotic (dead) patches, especially around the edges of the leaf, which may be curled. Plant may be too tall. >> Potassium (K) deficiency.
b) If not, keep reading…
5) a) Leaves are dark green or red/purple. Stems and petioles may have purple & red on them. Leaves may turn yellow or curl under. Leaf may drop easily. Growth may be slow and
leaves may be small. >> Phosphorous (P) deficiency.
b) If not, go to #6.
6) a) Tips of leaves are yellow, brown, or dead. Plant otherwise looks healthy & green. Stems may be soft >> Over-fertilization (especially N), over-watering, damaged roots, or
insufficient soil aeration (use more sand or perlite. Occasionally due to not enough N, P, or K.
b) If not, go to #7.
7) a) Leaves are curled under like a ram's horn, and are dark green, gray,
brown, or gold. >> Over-fertilization (too much N).
b) If not, go to #8…
8) a) The plant is wilted, even though the soil is moist. >>Over-fertilization, soggy soil, damaged roots, disease; copper deficiency (very unlikely).
b) If not, go to #9.
9) a) Plants won't flower, even though they get 12 hours of darkness for over 2 weeks. >> The night period is not completely dark. Too much nitrogen. Too much pruning or cloning.
b) If not, go to #10...
10) a) Leaves are yellow or white, but the veins are mostly green. >> Iron (Fe) deficiency.
b) If not, #11.
11) a) Leaves are light green or yellow beginning at the base, while the leaf
margins remain green. Necrotic spots may be between veins. Leaves are not twisted. >> Manganese (Mn) deficiency.
b) If not, #12.
12) a) Leaves are twisted. Otherwise, pretty much like #11. >> Zinc (Zn)
deficiency.
b) If not, #13. 13) a) Leaves twist, then turn brown or die. >> The lights are too close to the plant. Rarely, a Calcium (Ca) or Boron (B) deficiency.
b) If not… You may just have a weak plant.

hope this helps

Im no expert, only my 2nd grow but I thought it was normal for some of the leaves to go yellow/brown when your in flower as you've stopped giving the plant nitrogen. Correct me if Im wrong as Im 3 weeks into flower and Iv got plenty of brown tips but the buds seem fine.

maybe it is normal. it doesnt affect the bud accept the random one that the leaves brown all the way up on. for the most part, its just the tips.

I took this photo about 5/6 days ago and you can just about see the brown tips, its increased a bit more now but so has the bud so Im not arsed. If you've got a problem dude then so have I and Im not worried, I'l try and dig out where I read that this was normal.

ya bro that looks exactly like mine. whatever it is, we have the exact same "problem".

brown tips=nutrient burn

There's nothing you can do to fix it, other than back off on the nutrients and look to the new growth to see if the problem has been resolved.

A good flush might be in order as well just to remove some of the built-up salts.

How often do you feed? Do you alternate water-only feedings between nutrient feedings?

I alternate between water and feeds and even when I do feed I give a bare minimum. I do think however you are right suggesting nutrient burn. Iv read that switching between veg nutrients and bloom nutrients can cause burn, it should idealy be done gradually. Dont know how much truth is in this. The brown tips on my plant have settled, no more have appeared, although the pistils are going brown quite quick. Im gona use canna flush for the final 2 weeks so that should sort out any excess nutrient problems.

As long as those tips have stopped showing signs of burn your good. Go easy on the nutrients and just read those tips...if they start to burn you know you're over-fertilizing.

Mine did the same and I use pH perfect Coco sensi bloom. It was the light not really to close but to many watts hitting the plant at one time had 2000 kicked it down to a 1000 seems to have fixed the problem
