ridges on leaves curling up turning brown

i have two plants that are about 2 months old, and just under a foot tall (in soil, in pots, outside). not much light here lately. then all of a sudden the sun came out for the past three or four days, and now my leaves are curling up, turning from green to yellow, to brown, to now basically white. i used to water them too frequently and i was told that if i watered regulary every day, that i would eventually saturate the soil too much, and it would eventually cause root rot. so i havent watered my plants at all in the past 2 weeks. they have not shown any signs of wilting. but the leaves on one of the plants is drying up as i said. i dont ever use any nutes, only ones in there are from the gardening soil that i used (.8-.5-.5), and i mixed that with natural soil, and a little topsoil mixed in. never been fed nutes... maybe its time? if so im not sure what to use.. little help would be greatly appreciated.. im replying to post with pics right now

2 weeks without water? they probably need a decent watering now. generally, water when soil appears dry and when you push your finger 1-2" into it (soil) and it's still dry. then water only till water begins to drip out of the drainage holes. pour a little water in, give it like 30 sec, then a little more, till u get dripping out of bottom. you cant go wrong with that method. dont know why your leaves are acting up though... hopefully someone can help ya there..... good luck

check the ph of your water. it needs to be around 5.8-6.8 . where are you getting this water from? a lake? a hose? a sink?

your soil is made up of a bunch of different things which may be part of your issues too. next time, use foxfarm soils and nutes. also, in your first pic, those holes in the leaves are from insects. bad news. i'd bring them inside the house to mature and if you wont do that, you need to research pest control measures. whether they be organic or pesticides....

started with tap water... then i tested the ph and it was like 8... ive been using filtered water from my fridge since the last watering.... ph of around 6.5... i mist frequently... not the droopy one, i never mist that, only the nicer looking one, that has the burning leaves.. n i live in ny its not like the sun is like ridiculously powerful

the pic that is ur avatar, is that ur current setup? that looks like something i would be interested in making, looks small, convenient, and reasonably affordable... my ultimate goal would be to be able to harvest a few ounces each time... nothing absurd, just two or three well grown plants... what kind of lights do u have? watt?

hahaha.......theres your problem. DO NOT mist the plants. at all. ALL water for plant goes into her soil. when water beads on the leaves, it magnifies the light the plant is recieving. in your case, sunlight. water intensifies the light, and thus, your leaves are burning. leaves can burn anyplace, but yours are burnin on the tips because thats where water is ending up beading. misting is a no no, and now you know why.

haha yea sounds good to me, only reason i misted was because i heard a few people saythat when plants mature a large partof feeding was through the leaves... how much did ur current setup cost u?

foilar feeding (feeding through the leaves) is only done when plant needs urgent care. dont mist the plants for any other reason than that. read up on foilar feeding. misting with water is pointless and as you know, burns the leaves. people argue bout misting all the time, now you know why most people dont do it. my current setup was like 200 bucks total maybe. all cfls. and a whole shit ton of watts, but more importantly, a whole shit ton of lumens. lumens are what really count, as they are the measure of the amount of light the bulb gives off... so make sure your ph is in range, check it EVERY time you water. STOP MISTING. get some different soil maybe too..... good luck

lol by the way.. the holes in that lewaf are from an accident... :-( my fan fell on top of the plant, took out a fan leaf, and left that one snapped in half at the node, i rested a bendy straw under the broken node n it propped it up quite well.. this happened about two days ago, and the leaf that was broke is the one with the browning that i showed u, but its not from it dying cuz it has shown significant improvements, able to stand up on its own already, and the small hole where it snapped in the node is slowly healing

i would really like to.. a friend of mine actually has got an 800$ sodium bulb with two adjustments i believe? idk he said its for veg, and then gets dimmer for flower... its prob b much better to boost em with some 24 hours of light for a week or two dont ya think?

all my plants are vegged on a 24 hour light schedule. flouros are good for vegitation and work well for flowering. hps is probably the best light to flower with. hps can cause preflowers and stretching during vegitation though. i use cfls throughout the grow because that's what i already own. i use a 24 hour light schedule during veg. to get a stronger, healthier plant, and to get me to flower faster. i personally prefer to grow indoors due to security and being able to control conditions in garden, but to each his own..... good luck on your grow :)
