when the top of the soil is completely dry. or do the finger test, put ur finger bout one inch down in the soil to see if it is dry. thats how i do it n im a new grower seems to work fine..

you can also get a toothpick or a pen cap and stick it in the soil and help the little girl out by leaning her onto the cap or pick. that way she's up looking at the light. but yea when they are small they dont drink that much. I mean look at the plant size how much water do you thing that thing can drink not much so your soil especially MG will soak up and keep water in it for days mabe a week before you would need to water it again as the plant gets bigger then you would need to water more often.

well changing the soil is prolly why. If you waterd your soil after u changed it. Its prolly overwaterd, New soil is really moist already. And since your plants are soo young they are stressed from the change plus overwater. You need to buy B-1 Vitamin plant starter. It takes away from transplan shock. 1 Tablespoon per gallon. Peace

you might want to keep your lights on 24/7 for a bit. Light makes the plants grow roots and makes the plants burn water to stay Hydrated. also the soil needs to be warm for best root growth happy roots means happy plants. In nature the sun warms the earth about 10 degrees warmer than the air temp. get a heating pad set on low just to get it warm or place in a window for a bit. the heat will also help dry out the soil a bit. they also make a cheap ( $8 ) probe that you stick in the soil about 3 inches down and it will tell you if the soil is dry (Bad) moist (good) or wet (Bad) thats what I use and it helps alot. check it out here http://www.mastergardening.com/too-1091.html
