same problem back again ???!!! yesterday my shit started to slightly droop AGAIN ! now i hate to open a argument thread , about the too much light thing, so i'll just ask............. I have a 1000 hps about 20" over the canopy and it is covering 4' x4' and i keep the top of the canopy around 83F . I guess that is too much light ? when i "fixed" um I replanted from MG to promix then i slowed down on food, then i moved my whole table 12" closer to ground........ now they been lookin good , real good until i switched the bulb from 80,000 luman MH to hps 120,000 (i think, its just a commercial bulb?) then i moved um back up on the table and switched to 12/12 . now i am about 1 week into flower and i notice the droopin just startin again. So it has to be the light then ? SO there is such thing as too much light..........

I really doubt it is your lights, after all the Sun has alot more lumens than your light.
With that being said, is this a new strain for you? I ask because, regardless of experience I have found that some strains are not as tolerate as others. I find sativas are more sensitive than indicas are as an example.Just because a method works well for some strains does not mean it will work well for others. Sorry about your troubles but a few questions which you might have answered but just wondering: What is the PH of your runoff and soil before and after using nutes? What is your PPMs? Humidity in the grow area Lots of fresh air intake? New strain if so what is it? You transplanted but did you flush? What type of nutes (NPK) and what strenght? Did you recently move your grow area? Good luck, even those of us that are somewhat experienced can hit a snag. Just try to see whats different and move on from there. Its trial and error to some degree. |

Good on the neem oil wit da mites but make sure to also rinse with clear water after each app. As for the light thing it is possible IMO to have too much light right after a lot of stress as they cant "breathe" as quick as how much light they're getting. Would be better to answer Reeny's Q's too. Gluck Last edited by trichomeKid; 07-28-2009 at 09:24 AM.. |

so if this 1000 dont put off what the sun does (in lux , or lumans per sq ft) then what DOES the sun put off ??? the only answer i can find says that 1000 hps puts off way more than the sun at a certain distance ?? this chart is one of the only things i can find? :lightchart.jpg
from what i can see , it looks like the sun does 10,000 lumans per sq ft ? it shows the 1000 hps as 6 or 7 times that amount? with all that being said , YES REENY i think my strain is old an wore out...... the problem is in the afgani (the gani has been in the nieghborhood for a long time now.....) i also have Ice from nirvana but it is not ready for the bloom room yet , and none of the other strains are doing bad in the floro side? now if you look at the very first pics i put on here you can see the hell me an my babies went through for a couple months now they are very healthy so i started to flower about a week ago and all was fine until a couple days ago, now for 2 nights in a row , they have a slight droop ONLY TOWARDS THE END OF THE DAY ??? when they wake up in the mornin , they are all perky and lookin up. Also it just so happens that right in the middle of their horrid life , right when they was at their worst , i replanted and raised the light over a foot. then in just a week or so , everything in the room perked up and came out of the depression they were in! Now , just when i lowered the bulb and went from a 80,000 luman MH , to a 140,000 luman Hps, the shit started this droopin shit ![]() they look fine but i DO NOT want them to go back to that nutelock shit or whatever the fuck caused it ???? The ph is fine and i always keep my NPK low unless i KNOW they can handle more (which aint often) i use promix for medium. ARE YOU GUYS SURE IT AINT THE LIGHT? oh yea plenty of intake and i have'nt moved anything. and no i didnt "flush" only feed 2 times then use water (like always) This is one of the first times i have ever used liquid food ....... i used to just mix blood meal with soil and bone meal with water for flower.?

I am somewhat limited in my experience, but I am convinced that here IS such a thing as too much light. Backing the light off a bit will do no harm. See how she responds to a few "cloudy" days. It seems easy enough to try and should only take a day or two to see a difference. At least if it does not help, you will have eliminated the possibility. Best of luck what ever you do.

the reason i finnally switched to liquid food (Earthjuice) is because with the blood and bone meal i didn't really KNOW how much i was giving the plants, with the liquid, i know exactly what goes in. I have always been VERY careful with food and even know 3 of the 4 part food by earthjuice says "every water" i still tend to go every other water or 2 food to one strait water. I dont think i have EVER gave the plants as much as they can handle (without co2) thats the main reason for the switch.... i can go UP with the food if they can handle it, or down if i have to.
ALSO @ Kid " It sounds like they're doing fine... it's normal for leaves to droop before lights out and perk up in the "morning" " this very well could be the case....... when i go in there i look at the soil not the tops , so is this just somthin i "missed" in growing school ? i was just sittin here wondering if that might be normal, and now you say it is ! that would be great! ever since the great depression (of my plants) i LOOK for things i didnt used to cause i dont want to EVER see all that yellow and purple again!!!!! although i am very proud of myself just for keeping them alive ! them fuckers looked like that for almost 2 months....... now they look like they are only a few weeks old and pretty as fuck! the only place i was able to find ANYTHING on too much light was here with Uncle Ben . His description of too much light was excactly what my babies looked like. "bleaching of the leaves and robbing the plant of all its cloraphill" i think the only reason my leaves aint burned up is because the "canopy" is only 83F . anyways i put the light at 30" yesterday so that will rule out the too much light thing. I will watch it though and if they aint droopin tonite then it has to be the problem and if they are droopin then i will just hope it is normal...... the only thing i can even change that MIGHT make a difference is bottled water instead of tap. but i have never had a prob with tap around here. plus the ones under floro's ( 4 different strains) are all doing fine/great with my tap water! THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP !!! I'll post back to keep you guys up on thangs!

I understand with wanting the control over your feeding which is great. Holding back on the feeding is a very good thing too, sounds like you've learned how much they can only handle... the hard way... like me!
Yes it is in one of UB's good threads about too much light which is 100% correct, especially giving em tons of light during periods of stress like heavy pruning or transplants. I really enjoy making tea nutes for my plants but I also have given Biobizz bloom a shot and not very happy, also having issues. Did your plants ever show burn or lockouts when you fed your bone meal? How much are the leaves actuallly drooping there? A little drooping before lights off is normal man, they stay like that through the dark, I think some plants will even start perking up a while before lights come on. So don't think cause you raised your lights the drooping will go down either... lol don't start getting the disease of looking for screw ups every quarter hour you'll go mad.. Your tap water should be great if it's ppm is not too high (they change chems in tap water quite often so test regularly) and that you make sure to rid ALL chlorine. Bottled water is also cool but why? Get RO if you wanna go that route, will be much cheaper in the long run. Good luck

As far as tea goes.... no i have never had a lockout or anything with it, but like i said i am and always was VERY careful with food. (mainly because my first 2 or 3 grows , i did not use ANY food at all) then when i did start usin the tea , I KNOW i wasn't usin enough to cause lockout.... hell i wasnt even usin enough to fattin them up..... but i never had no real bad luck like this time.
