No new leaves, just shriveled up badness

This is my first grow. I've got the plant under a 1000w hps and i know ventillation is not the problem, and i have been using fox farm fertilizer and soil. The leafs circled are very shriveled and it appears they were dead before they had a chance to grow to big strong leaves like the others pictured. We think it might be a nutriet burn so we quit using the fert and are just using distilled water. The ph is fine around 6.8, but we just have no idea why the leaves are like that. I want nice fat leaves. Any ideas?

nah its not really showing any signs yet those shriveled up pieces are only what should have been leaves. its on a 18/6 hour grow cycle. its certainly growing its making new leaves every day i just want them to be real laves not shriveled up whatever that is.

Damn 1k watts hps though. Maybe to hot. What's the temp? Also check humidity.

Its about 80 in the room. Fixing that.

but humidity, its probably extremely low. I have nothing in there to produce it, or anything to check to see what it is.

included is a picture of the set up, you can see its very well vented. Open hole in the ground, which pulls the cool air from under the house, and the light is vented right into the attic. I turned the fan under the house more towards the light so it stays cooler on that side.

Im using a sun system 2 8inch air cooled reflector, and i attached a 8 inch fan directly onto it, keeping the hood very cool to the touch.

sorry only have a bs webcam right now. ill try and get some better ones up tomorrow.

i had the same problem. i was growing under flouros. i topped the plant and the 2 stalks that emerged had leaves that were normal. if u wanna top it do lots of research. make sure u dnt stress the plant too much... i did and it took like a week and a half to heal. anyway, id try it...

Im sure you took a good look at leaves, with a 30X scope and mag , but looks almost like you got a bug problem, something munchin on those leaves.

They don't look like spider mites or white fly's, anybody out there have an idea?

its just fungus gnats and iv been told they dont eat plants...still i hate them and im working on murdering them all...very persistent though.

also found out that the stunted growth was due to low pH. The fox farm soil i got had a pH of like 4 and i just didn't bother checking it before i transplanted it to a bigger pot with that soil. rookie mistake. i did a soil flush last night and the plant already looks 100x better this morning. plus the pH is 6.8 instead of 4-5 in all areas. it really likes it. check your soil before you use it next time nubs!!

i was also wondering on the same note, since i just did a soil flush should i continue to water with just water since the soil already has nutrients in it? or were all the nutrients washed away and i need to water with fertilizer?

Here is an update.

Growing like crazy. 1st pic 12 days later.
2nd 11 days
