Default Getting rid of Algae on Roots (Pics)
A month of growing clones in an ebb and flow tray and the roots are showing signs of algae? on the roots. Want to know how to solve the problem without hurting the plant. Is there a solution i can add to the reservoir or should i just cover the table and the algae will die without light?? Will this algae kill the roots?
Your help and experience would be much appreciated.

You just need to keep the light out. You can buy tarps just for this purpose or you can make your own.

Get a opaque tarp, and cut it the size of your table with an extra 12-18 inches both width and height. Then cut x's in the tarp the size of the plant. Very carefully (get a buddy to help you) place the tarp over all the plants and gentle get them through the x's you cut.

To get rid of the current algae just run some water with h2o2 in it at about 1 tsp h2o2 to 1 gal of water. Lamp

Oh also hygrozyme is the shit for algae but its expensive.

Thanks brother ive found a way to cover the plants. Now that the roots are covered is it necessary to kill the algae or will it just die on its own without light. So H2O2 is just hydrogen peroxide right?(the stuff u put in ur ears to get rid of an ear ache).

The sour diesel is so much taller this option is kinda killin my even canopy but oh well its a first grow all about experimenting.

Yup its peroxide.

Yeah thats why i like soil b/c i can raise the pots to even the canopy. Hydro is better for one strain, clones are even better. Lamp

man i got algae all over my rockwool cubes but people are telling me to take foil covers off. so what gives? do i cover them to get rid of light or does that hold the moisture in and fuck up the natural process?

also i read in a magazine geared for indoor growers that the whol peroxide thing was a bit of a myth and that the oxygen that is released is a free radical that will do more harm than good.

oxygen to the roots us key to growth, thats the ENTIRE theory on why hyrdo is better. Algae cannot survive without light, thats why so many companies are coming out with cue caps. So keep the foil, better yet get mylar as foil can burn plants. Peroxide isnt in this case used for excess O2 though. In this case it is being used to oxidize algae or fungi. Lamp.

Its not going to hold in that much moisture if they are overwatered is more likely b/c they are overwatered, eg. to long of flood or too frequent. Caps will not be the culprit of overwater period. Thats called denile. Lamp.
