ive got a G13 Power Skunk, she's been flowering about 7-10 days and is an awesome looking plant. problem is, the damn thing is 40 inches tall and has grown an inch taller each of the last 3 days. this thing vegged for 5-6 weeks and was about 22 inches 18 days ago when she was put into 12/12.
what options do i have under a 400w hps? do i keep raising the light? (it's already at eye level and im thinking that will reduce yield from being so high.) can i top her off? will that stop the vertical growth? do i just let the top grow above the light coverage area? any suggestions are welcome... thanks in advance! |

i had the same problem with the g13ps i have flowering now, my plant was 50" and right under my light ans spreading like a bush, i just tied it down to itself with yarn and hung a skateboard wheel on some jack chain and hung it a little below the top node to weigh it down and it reached back up. ill post a pic in a bit. i suppose its a different take on lst

The stem might be too woody to start an LST at this point. I recommend topping if that's the case, then clone the top.

that's what i'm thinking, lst, however the stalk is very woody and thick... it does bend, but not enough to tie to itself. wouldnt topping her now be very bad for the plant? i wouldnt mind doing it to clone, just thought it would stress her too much.. thanks again.

as long as you dont remove more than 1 3rd of the plant at one time it will be ok. it will stunt it a little but better than letting it grow into the light.

i just had the same problem, the plant was vegged to long and now it is to woody to lst,i topped and it seems all right,Ive topped before in flowering and dont remember any major differences.they say its a no no but sometimes its your only option,i tied a plant down before it ended up snapping so that i thought was the same stress as topping.

here's pics of the room/plant... the pink walls are 48 inches tall. the light is almost at 5 feet. think i'm gonna go with topping her off... she's definitely not gonna bend. thanks to all for the replies.

400 watt = 3'-3.5'high x 3'x3'square
600 watt = 3.5'-4.5'high x 3'x4' square 1000 watt = up to 5' x 3'x6' square its best to underestimate that way you always end up with too much light as opposed to too little |
