those measurements don't count containers, just parts of the plant light needs to travel too. and this assumes the light is 12 to 18" above the plant.

I have three plants growing under floresent lights. There about 30" and almost touching the bulbs. Should I keep them at the height or give them more room to grow. I just recieved a 400w HPS bulb. Should I switch over to it instead of the floresents?

30" under flouro is not good at all

the bottom 10" is probably getting next to no light, switch to that hps now i swear in a week you will shit yourself there will be so much improvement

Should I get a 72" metal storage cabinet to put them in? with the 400w HPS bulb and is one enough for three plants? Or should I add the floresents to?

you can never have too much light.

unless it brings your temps above 82f
then you'll want to be investing in more fans

next time you sprout ure seeds look into starting with a florescent or mh...it will give rue plant more of a 'leafy growth'.... i used to get this alot with sativas, just a days under blue...then a few more days under balanced light before subjecting the babes to hps intensity will make a world of difference...

i wonder if throwing in a $10 home depot florescent would be worth while??

it's been done, the top 10 inches or so was cut off and it is resting in a dome as a clone... thanks to all for the help.

thats my powerskunk and its manipulation as it got too tall. i brought it from 50" down to 42" somehowthe most recent picture is from today the plant is held together by yarn and has to be held up by steaks because of its topheavyness from the yarn training but looking from the top it almost looks like a scrog

^ that plant ^ is looking good... i've chopped mine a second time now... 10inches the 1st time off just the main top - 8 or so inches the second time from the resulting 2 tops. the bottom branches have all come up to about 3 ft in height now, looks almost exactly like yours jbrown, about 1 week or maybe 2 behind.
what size bucket is yours in jb? mine is in 3 gal. and will stay there.
has yours finally stopped growing vertical? from what i've read, after first few weeks of flower they do stop going up right?
