My plants are 3 weeks into veg and seem to be fine with the exception of the top shoot's new foliage looking somewhat light green to green yellow. The lower, older leaves are nice and dark green. 400w MH at 14 inches, 3 and 5 gallon, organic soil grow.

Sounds like you have a slight nitrogen problem or maybe your light is bleaching the new growth?

What size light and how close it it to the top of the canopy?
What are you using for nutes?

It's a 400w 14 inches away from canopy. I have not put any nutes in the soil yet, the worm castings should be giving it enough nitrogen for now.

look up Fe deficiency-is the yellowing starting at the petiole and working way out towards the leaf tip? also, it is natural for new growth to be light green and darken with age.

I would check out Sulfur, usually it starts yellowing at the top of the plant starting from the base of the leaf out. Nitrogen is mobile so it always yellows from the older leaves up. Epsom salt is a decent source of sulfur and is very cheap.

Oh i just saw its organic grow, there is also sulfur in unsulfured molasses. If you determine thats what it is.

odd, wouldn't it not contain sulpher if 'unsulphered'? also, never heard of epsom salts containin gsulpher, only magnesium, but hey, what the hell do I know, I hate obama

Epsom salt is Magnesium SULFATE its more magnesium though. And i think your right about the unsulfured thing, maybe sulfured molasses then.

I have only used plain old water and no nutes yet. I think it's the light being too close. Thanks for all the reply's!
