Unhappy From 200w fluro to 600w hps now having problems
I recently changed from 200w fluro to a 600w hps along with going from two flood cycles to three floods per light on period and now my plants are droopy. I don't mean droopy when you come home and find out the pump hasn't worked for the last day and the plants are all slumped over. I have had that happen and as soon as I flood them they stand right up. This situation is different. My humidity is in the low 20 percent range and heat is in the low to mid 80's . Which I don't see the temp being a problem. Maybe the humidity is though? The roots look nice and white. They are not real long though but this might have something to do with age as they are about 1 1/2 months old. I'll shut up now. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx...

this is normal they cannot use so much light an will need a few maybe 3 days to ajust. pull your 600watt light about 3 feet away from the plants for now. once they recover and become vigourous us can put the light closer again

expect to be smoking bucket loads in a few weeks

They could be getting too much water with the extra cycle in there. Maybe bring it back down to two.

I almost think the plants are drying out now that the 600 watter is on. I have always ran a flood cycle every 4 or 6 hours and have never had a problem. It's been a couple of years since I ran a system and now it's like I'm learning all over again. I've been misting them and I think the purple(stress) running down each finger of the leaves starting to disappear. I'll give it a couple more days and see what happens. Also, I've added hydroton(clay pebbles) to the tray to try and give the roots something to grab a hold of when the exit the containers into the tray. Root growth does like nice and clean. But the hydroton in the net pots that the roots are touching does go dry between each flood cycle.
