What are you talking about maybe you should read the whole thread I was simply explaining the inconsistencies from what my pictures display bc of my shitty camera and what my eyes are seeing do me a favor and go bug somewhere else. . .

Mag def is dark veins my veins arent dark and my leaves arent light another sign that was the flash and the top of the plant the lightest part bc of new developement but I'm sure you knew all that. . .Look for intervein ridges and fringes standing on edge and see what you find toxic salt or heat stress and occasionally underwatering not mag def

I believe you're correct -run water only for a 6 hour period of normal watering cycles. then change out the water and replace with another ph balanced supply of nut/water and you should be good to go. The big question in my mind is why did this happen... You have to run a rinse cycle each time before changing the nut/water.

ok. I'm going by what you say about sodium buildup. I think you're right. So, do you rinse your system? You must not. Gotta do that every 7-10 days. Rinse. Change in new nut/water solution and run again for another 7-10 days. Also, gotta use ph balanced water.

I've run ebb/flo since '89 and never had a salt buildup anytime. Good luck.

My first grow was hydro (soil now) and I used FloraNova. One thing I did notice with the Flora series was the salt build up, newie and unable to make connections about plant issues. I always saw the salts at the base of the trunk and on the clay pebbles. Also there was the problem of red stems, spots, papery leaves, weak leaf stems, slow growth, and turned up edges. After that I switched to soil and still the same thing all the salts built up at the trunk and in the soil. Recently (within the last month) I read somewhere that the Flora series does tend to have alot of salt build up, but before reading that I always treated my plants for a cal-mag definciency, which always worked, but not good enough because there was always a small sign of an issue.....irritating actually.

6 grows later and it was only during this one that the Flora Nova came to mind (the article I read) and that this could be the culprit for the consistancy of the illusive issue. Finally the bottle is empty and in the end I figure it is the salts build up that causes the cal-mag definciency.

True there is a definciency in calcium and magnesium but only because of the build up of salts. You and Rolla are both right on with the plant issue. Not totally sure how the get rid of the salts build up but do know that you can blast them with Cal-Mag by Botanicare and the salts remain and the cal-mag issue is only reduced. The fix for me is to go to a new feeding series, thinking Advanced Nutrients: Iguana Juice. Advanced also has excellent hydro food for the girls. I truely hope this lends some insight to what may be going on.
