Really sucks, the first smoke I had was in the Netherlands in a cafe and whenever I was in Belgium visiting my friend we would always head up to Mastaricht and get our smoke on with some of the finest weed around .

If it does go through it won't be in effect for long. They get a lot of money from tourists especially Americans. They should be grateful Americans go there considering it's legal in Canada and it's closer.

in other ass backwards policy...the dutch government blamed the accidental suicide of a foreigner (who traveled to amsterdam) solely on magic mushrooms, although they found multiple substances, including alcohol in her system, then went ahead with banning them back in december.

and now this.

i can't help but to think that the powers that be want to destroy this once magical city/country and turn it into nothing more than a memory.

So so true. Tourists will still go over there IMO, just they'll buy it on the black market or get someone with a pass to buy it for them.

I've never seen people smoking cannabis in Amsterdam and causing a nuisance, or anywhere. It's when alcohol or other hard drugs get into the equation that violence or disruption usually follows.

Its not legal in here in canada. its just tollerated by the mass of the population. if your unlucky some asshole pig will confiscate and give you a ticket, depending on how much you have of course.

for those who have never been to amsterdam, or the netherlands, in general:

this is not like canada or cali. to be able to walk into a coffeeshop in a social setting with your friends, for example, after a shitty day at work and blaze one up without worrying about getting busted was a feeling like no other.

even though marijuana is tolerated in other parts of the world, you still could not freely toke up in a cafe like you could over there.

this saddens me greatly.

does anyone think it is worth it for foreigners/tourists to write to the dutch government officials and let them know we do not support this potential ban? does anyone know if there is even a place for foreigners to write to the dutch government?

oh, and another thing...this POTENTIAL ban has not yet taken place. all the media outlets are saying this is going to happen. that's propaganda. propaganda for what, you say? so the public will think that there is no chance or time to oppose and contest this; and their agenda proceeds smoothly.

i hope the dutch people stand up, at least...
