Legislation: Dubai is a police state and there is a zero tolerance policy to the usage of soft drugs is punishable by 4 years for possession and life terms with the possibility of death for cultivating and distributing, as well as police very strictly enforcing laws. If you are merely suspect to possession or use of weed you will be given high priority as a threat and will be otherwise till proven innocent. The laws on soft drugs are the same throughout the UAE though in Sharjah you may be given a warning and be put on probation if you are caught without any weed but fail your drug test. Having weed in your system still constitutes towards possession. Also Prescription drugs such as of the opiate class and Benzodiazepine are also considered narcotics unless you have been prescribed them from the UAE, so please be careful with bringing sleeping pills and other medicines with abuse potential.
