VANCOUVER, B.C. - The federal government is proposing changes to the Criminal Code that would impose mandatory minimum jail time for serious drug crimes.

Justice Minister Rob Nicholson said the legislation tabled by the Tories Friday would impose a one-year minimum sentence for dealing drugs such as marijuana for organized crime purposes

Harper is such a douche. The fucking economy is an is taking a downturn, and he wants to play politics with drugs laws. Not to mention all this will do is increase the cost on this failed drug war. Furthermore if he really wanted to deal with crime you would start with it's root causes, and again it would come back to the fucking bad economy. Fuck, legalize it, regulate it , tax it. That would take more than half of most gang's income. This shit makes me sooo angry.

Harper is such a douche, yes indeed. It's funny how most Canadians don't give two shits about these silly worthless laws and weed but if 1 or 2 politicians and a Prime Minister get together their word is superior and final. People need to stick together and do something about the biggest organized gang in the world (the government) The thing that really pisses me off is how Harper and the Canadian government just want to copy everything the US does, it's sad how Canada is turning into a smaller version of the US, were much better off being the laid back friendly country we've always been, why change ? we have a perfect country the way it is without the ridiculous so called "land of the free" blueprint that Harper wants to create. I really do feel sorry for the American people being treated the way they do by a handful of bums that make all the rules, hopefully Obama helps but it still comes down to the entire parties arguing over stupid shit, all they ever do is make more rules more laws never get rid of old ones or make any good ones, day by day taking away more freedom every year.

it amazisis me how the U.S is moving forward almost past the Failure on drugs "war on drugs" with cali on the verg of legalizing weed and canada wants to take a massive leap backwards fuck it wasnt that long ago we had it decriminalilzed then the U.S "bush" stepped in and screwed everything

Damn that's harsher than than the US laws and the shit isn't even legal here I was gonna move to Canada just for the weed but fuck it what's the point I think it will be legal i the US by summer 2010

Well Canada basically follows whatever the Americans do, so if it becomes legal in the US it will be here too within a month, what bugs me is it should already be legal here because the actual people that represent Canada don't care about weed laws but are government bends over backwards for yours. One things for sure we don't have the super cops that you guys got, most times the cops in Canada don't give a fuck, while yours would pull a taser or glock out in your face then 18 other cops would pile on top over a joint, lol.

The cops really aren't that bad here but piss them off or have a problem with one and they will fuck you up

What I really hate about all this is how a small group of people, usually gangs, fight over this stuff and gun down people in the process in order to control their share of the drug trade. THis in turn pisses off polititians and they make harsh laws against marijuana in order to control crime, but most of the people who grow it and smoke it are your everyday average citizens who go to work to make an honest living and pays their taxes. These fuckin gangs fuck it all up for the rest of us who just want to chill out after a long day of work.

No need to get violent over marijuana, people just need to chill out and smoke and spread the love and peace. There is plenty of bud to go around
