Hell I have Black Hawk helicopters buzz my house at around 75 -100 ft. (I live in a military town).... and I'd NEVER dream of shooting at them because they are 'trespassing' or possibly looking for plants growing on my property.
Nothing to do with being a 'nice try' as I wasn't arguing the difference between commercial planes and police helicopters.... I was arguing the validity of calling any plane flying low over your home a 'trespass'.... so my point stands.
I seriously doubt law enforcement doing fly overs looking for mj are researching the ages or circumstances of the people who live on all the property they are flying over. In fact it's better if they don't .... that way they can't be accused of racial profiling or any other kind of 'singling people out'.
SO NOT TRUE! You are quoting a pre 20th century legal concept "To whoever owns the land, shall belong the earth to its center and up to the heavens."
This no longer applies. A person only has the right to the airspace above their property that they can 'reasonably use'.
In fact, in the United States Supreme Court literally did away with that legal concept in US vs. Causby (1946). Read up..

Just quoting from my books i used post 9/11 these were real estate not law I guess alot of us a were getting out some frustrations. this icon reminded palin always winking too

Alright, lets just stop hunting all together!! Then the hundreds of milions of deer and billions of other animals we hunt for CONSERVATION will eat all our crops and, from a lack of food and living space, will become sick and die, spreading disease and causing more problems then before.
Senseless killing is bad, I agree. BUT hunters have rights, and without us, we would probably all have SARS and whatnot.
You should be able to have guns.... but responsibly.

I have raised my own animals for food. I prefer to shoot the big ones (pigs and cattle, chickens usually get their heads cut off). I happen to think that a lot more people should get in touch with what they eat, yes, including raising and butchering your own animals, or at least becoming familiar with the process.
However, that has little to do with why I think we should be allowed to own guns, as you say, responsibly. Our government has more to do with my stance on that than anything.

Couldn't agree more! Also... I may not hunt land animals, but I often go fishing out in the Gulf in my kayak and I also spearfish and hunt lobster while scuba diving. [EDIT]I don't see any difference in hunting animals on land and in the sea. [/END EDIT]
LOOKOUT... next the gun grabbers will be after our spear guns

FL Girl I think you are missing the point. First of all an airplane coming in for landing at 200 miles per hour is in no way the same as a helicopter hovering. So comparing an aiport flight path with hovering helicopters is pretty far of a stretch.
Second of all, you are missing the point that if the women at age 69 years old, hit that chopper 3 times within inches of each shot, bam, bam, bam, all the hits were right there together, they had to be rather low. If they were high in the sky way above the tree tops she could not have hit that many times that close together. We aren't talking about a military trained combat soldier with a sniper rifle. We are talking about a pissed off 69 year old grandma.
Thirdly I really doubt she ran out and started shooting the first time they flew over which tells me that it's gone on often enough for long enough periods of time for her to get mad, go get her gun, load it and then go out and shoot. I really doubt she was out there in her rockin chair waiting on them.
One last point that is being missed, how far should the cops be allowed to carry their "marijuana war"? If they can hover right above your property, what's to stop them from hovering there and looking in your second story windows? Maybe they'll stop at random door to door searches. How far is too far?

My only point about the airplanes or choppers (any aircraft) is that the airspace above our homes does not "belong to us as individuals" ... therefore the 'trespass' argument doesn't hold water. It's no different then cops parked out on a public street watching a homeowner with binoculars.
I'm not trying to be argumentative... just saying the law on the books says the airspace above our property doesn't belong to us so 'trespass' doesn't apply.

With all due respect, I don't think I missed the point at all. The OP and the article I read on the internet didn't mention anything about the firearm she used, how fast the shots were fired or even how many shots she fired…. So where are you getting this 3 shots hitting the chopper? I must have missed that link.
I’m not sure if you own guns or not and if you do how often you shoot…. I can only speak for myself. I own firearms (handguns) and grew up shooting all my dads hand guns and rifles. I’ll never forget the look on my ex b/f face the first time we went shooting together and I was dead center accurate shooting his Browning bolt action hunting rifle at the farthest target (I don’t recall the yardage… it was a few years ago)….. and I hadn’t shot a rifle in years prior to that.
My point is that you are making assumptions about the granny’s firearm skills. I expect to be a damn accurate shot until I go into the wind (I'm being cremated)… or lose my mind and they take my guns and put me out to a retirement home with the rest of the old farts. I don’t have enough information about granny to say one way or the other what her firearm skill are…. and I’m pretty sure you don’t either… just saying

I’m right there with you sista! IMO we are WAY PAST too far….starting with mj being illegal in the first place. If alcohol is legal then mj should be legal PERIOD!
I’d like to see some videos of controlled tests where they have a drunk only person and a high on mj only person and put them both into driving simulators….. let’s see who does better!!! I mean … sure the stoned person will finish the course slower…..
. I’d bet good money the test would show driving drunk is WAY WAY WAY worse then driving stoned.
In the end… I still stand by my original point that behavior like granny's does NOTHING to win brownie points with the public to our cause…. It’s just not the answer and shouldn’t be dismissed, condoned or encouraged.

I saw it on CNN before they knew who the shooter was. They had footage of where the 3 shots hit the chopper and they were right in a row. Just inches from each other. It sure looked like the mark of a trained shooter to me, that's why I thought it was so funny when they reported later than it was a 69 year old grandma that shot them.
I just know that I can't hit a pop can with a BB gun from 6 feet away and for most people to have hit that chopper in the way she did they had to have been closer than what should be allowed.
There was also a short interview with the chopper pilot who was saying that with the ecomony being down people are getting more protective of their crop because they need to get paid too.
Did anything ever say if the granny was even growing weed or were they just harrassing her because they had the power to.

As far as I know we don't know if she was growing or if they were in fact targeting her at all.... I mean we don't even know if the chopper was actually over her property or not?????
Either way... granny was out of line shooting... but given your report about the precise firing on a moving target.... well if that's true then I seriously DOUBT it was granny shooting at all.
Sounds like there is more to this story then we all know... it's like a big game of CLUE....I LIKE IT!
