Default New Yorks bill a4867
this bill has been in legislation for 2 years now. it is to legalize the medical use of marijuana in New York. it proposes up to 2.5 oz posession and 12 plants. last year it was stalled in the senate while waiting to be voted on after the assembely had passed it, now this year the assembely has made a few minor adjustments and it passed 79-48, it was passed on to the senate on June 18, 2008. unfortunatly the senate recessed on June 23, 2008, the only way we can get this passed is if you contact your local senators and ask them to support the bill a4867 on the legalization of medical marijuana, also encourage them to contact the senate majority leader to call a vote on this bill before Dec. 31,2008.

More than a few years back there was a vote for the legalization for med. marijuana and it passed. When doctors started asking the state about how to go about prescribing it the state then gov. Pataki said anyone making prescriptions for pot would face the max federal prosecution. The whole thing died right there. I was hoping with the now Gov. Patterson who is very liberal would allow this to happen but nothing yet! Even if this passes there is still no guarantee we can use it. I've sent my letters and even made a couple of phone call and wish it would be so but hold little hope. Keeping everthing crossed that I can.....lol

i think that the only reason that gov Patterson hasnt taken any action on this bill yet is that he had to fix a lot of things that gov spitzer screwed up. but i also believe that i has to be passed thhrough the senate before Patterson evr sees it. so hopefully they will call a vote before the end of the year.

Check out House Resolution 5843: Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of marijuana by Responsible Adults. This bill is still going through the different committees and may be changed but so far it states that the federal government will not be able to arrest or prosecute possesion of 100 grams of cannabis or less as long as it is not being sold for profit. That way it leaves it to the state. As of April 28, 2008 the House Judiciary referred it to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. So what can you do? Write and e-mail your represenative and tell your friends and family to also! Watch how your rep. votes and then vote him or her out if that mutha votes against it.
The beer companies and prison industrial complex have their lobbyist trying to kill it so we have to make our voices heard.

Baby steps...

I understand and agree with everything you said but don't agree with the beer companies and prison industrial complex. Beer companies have so much business they can't make it fast enough. Never heard of anyone being worried pot was going to close beer companies down. As far as prisons go they also have literally more business than they know what to do with it,also. The problem they have is getting municipalities to approve more land for the institutions want to have built. Now if your talking about conservatives with there thumbs up there asses and right to lifers who have no idea there are people who are suffering without med mar. then you have a handle on it. These usually are the people pulling the strings unfortunately. These people are the big fucks thinking anyone smoking deserves what they get because in there eyes we are the dregs of society. They think everyone smoking is Cheech and Chong! And they don't see any reason to condone such actions. Thats why we need to act and get our voices heard!!!!!!!!!
