Anyone who has watched anything about marijuana on the history channel knows why it was made criminal. It makes me sick. Using a drug to incriminate immigrants illegally? That is equivalent to outlawing rafts hoping to flush out anyone who might have floated here from Cuba (no offense, its just an analogy). Those in power attempted to fix one problem using an ineffective solution. Is it not unethical that the US government used marijuana as a means to identify illegal immigrants? The answer is no it really wasn't, however it was unethical for steps to be taken to make the drug illegal which resulted in unusually long periods of incarceration of united states citizens. I know fucked up. Anyways now that i have blown off some steam, here is what I was thinking was maybe not a half bad idea. Although some may think it contradicts my beef with the way the government identified illegal immigrants. I was thinking, what if perhaps the government made the use of cannabis almost 100 percent legal with a few exceptions, for those people who might just happen to be blazed during a routine traffic stop, or while they are trying to put in a CD and just happen cross the center line for a split second, and other similar scenarios. Sure you might get a ticket but thats all you deserve. I propose that with the legalization of marijuana comes greater consequences for those who are convicted of possession of the drugs that the DARE officer was telling the truth about. Im sorry, but if you think that you need to freebase to run away from your problems, then your kind of a fuckin idiot, because chances are that your problems started whenever you huffed your first can of Rustolium. Chances are, if there isnt a full blown out website (like this one) or magazine for the drug your doing, you probably need to get your shit together. There is a good reason there isnt a shootitup.com or a magazine called meth head. The bottom line is the war on drugs is not going to end and we are still going to be taxed for that war, however if that war were to be focused more on the serious drugs which do harm people, the government would not be losing any money. In fact there is every possibility that they may need more because a meth problem sprung up in oregon or something. I think that the battle to legalize marijuana is not about our safety and the effects of THC. Can you overdose on marijuana? No but you can sure as fuck overdose on Tylenol, as well as every other prescription drug on the market. By now im sure that the fact that marijuana causes no more damage than anything else that one may purchase at walmart is no secret. The issue is justifying legalization with benefits which are financial, because god forbid there be any middle class politicians. Does anyone have anything to add.

That's what the people who are trying to get it legalized have already been proposing for years.

oh i know that, but do you think that makes sense at all. Maintaining a war on drugs but only the right ones. The other thing is people talk about it being a cash crop, then the government says well that wont work because anyone can grow it. Well anyone can grow tomatoes and avoid buying them at walmart but thats perfectly legal. Then the FDA will say, oh well its a drug so its kinda like growing hydrocodine which people cant do because it can harm them. However it would take an ungodly amount of marijuana and grateful dead cds just to pass out let alone kill yourself
