DENVER — The Colorado ski town of Breckenridge has voted overwhelmingly to legalize marijuana.
Early returns Tuesday night showed the proposal winning with 72 percent of the vote. The measure would allow adults over 21 to have up to 1 ounce of marijuana.
The measure is largely symbolic because pot possession remains a state crime for people without medical clearance. But supporters said they wanted to send a message to local law enforcement to stop busting small-time pot smokers.
The vote comes as communities nationwide are struggling with how to enforce pot laws at a time when medical marijuana has surged in popularity.

I never thought I would see the day.

i guess it has to start at local levels - different counties in california have way different stands on it though.. maybe we'll see 'dry' counties like at the end of alcohol prohibition.. but, this is just like what happened back then - individual states legalized booze without the federal approval - then finally, when all states repealed the feds changed their law..

That's what I was thinking. A few cities have legalized marijuana and It'll spread. I'm thinking in the next ten years a substantial portion of the U.S. will have it legalized.

so do i look toward vinyards and wine industry as business model or pharma? or can we have old school farmers mkt? this is so fun. my intrest is getting top shelf meds. to the sick and suffering. but thats not mainstream so will adapt as needed to insure my possable compassionate chairity contribution to suffering can continue, I have never felt as good as i feel when i wittness suffering being releaved by top shelf meds that many have never encounterd. it makes me angery to know that most good mj isnt given to sick first and social second, fantasy is good if balanced im gonna shut up and grow

But damn, I didn't see one single sentence in the new Health Care Reform mentioning MJ. But at least that was better than totally sending us back into the dark ages like they did with anti-abortion passage. MFing republican and DEMO bastards.
