people are saying how perhaps california wont see all $1,400,000,000 per year and is it worth the social costs.. good grief..
but i keep thinking lately - its one thing to pour money into the state pockets, but what about legalizing so that poor people (like me) can use their backyard to make an income?? if you get tons of poor people off of government assistance and the like they (the state) will again have tons more money..! tons more people buying retail stuff and going out to eat.. spending it up and not going into debt, ending up homeless, etc..

i was doing a little figuring - even if weed went all the way down to $25 an ounce - say i grew 50 plants and each produced half a pound - that's 50 x 8 x 25 = $10,000 for me!!! legally!! right now i make way less than that working hard....

so prohibition has been stopping each american from benefiting in a capitalistic free market - i know a number of people who struggle every day to grow fruits and vegetables and such to sell for a few dollars.. meanwhile they could be using their farms to get rich... rich i tell you..! how about 200 plants at 1 pound each? $80,000 a year at $25 an ounce..!!

jeez.. see - i don't have the inclination to ever sell illegally.. but, if it becomes legal here in cali in 2011 i don't think there will be a rise in the number of smokers - but the number of backyard growers will be insane i predict....

sorry to rant - but, it would be such a good thing!! forget the public option - just let weed pay my bills..!!

Full on legalization will NEVER happen, it would cripple too many industries that our government relies on for everything from housing to paper to bulletproof vests, if you want to make money do it the old fashioned way, grow it now, dont tell anyone, if you are poor but still not poor enough that you have a house and a backyard to grow in, you are not poor, you are probably living on food stamps and .gov $ which wouldnt need to happen if you just grew now instead of waiting until all you get is 25$ an ounce which will NEVER happen, i get close to 7500$ for a pound about 500$ an ounce, 25$ is never happening, legalization is DUMB it takes the power and gives it TO THE GOVERNMENT WHEN HAS THAT BEEN A GOOD THING!!!
