I think anything that can create an entirely new industry is a good thing.

There are pro's and con's to every subject but it certainly would not make Ireland lose any money. Almost every country in the entire world has a system already setup for the production, sale, and distribution of "controlled substances".

So if countries used their example of how they treat alcohol or tobacco then they could easily apply that to marijuana.

And look at Holland, many many people travel there just so they can smoke cannabis without fear of prosecution, Ireland could take some of that tourism money!

It needs to be controlled but there is no reason that I can think of for it not to work. The only thing holding it back are stubborn people who seem to think that MJ is a hard drug, which we all know is not true

for example, if a MJ cafe opened up where u live, would you go there or to the pub? to be completely honest, when these things are legal, both become impulse buying goods, and people will spend SOME of their expendible income on MJ, which means theres LESS expendible income left to spend on other goods, such as alcohol. Thats basic Microeconomics theory for you.

plus if youre smoking, you dont drink anywhere near to what u would drink without smokin grass, or else u scag out. I mean, if you would drink a naggin and 6 cans, or a half bottle and 6 or sumthing, with MJ, u can kiss the spirits goodbye, and youll be fucked from 2 joints and 3-4 cans therefore drink would lose out due to MJ legalisation

Ah i dont kno man i kno boys that spend 100-200 euro a week on drink but only 30-60 on smoke i reckon some people might cut back a bit on the drink at the start just cause of the weed would be that much stronger if it was legal but that would only last a while till they got used to it, also if a bunch of lad go to a coffee shop they'll have a laugh for a while but sooner later there gonna be sleepy where as when they pub the rounds are gonna be flowing and ego's jumping all over the place to prove who's the best and thats when the cash starts flowing!
