The owner or manager is supposed to have access to the apartment for emergencies and stuff. Also if they spray for bugs or change smoke detector batteries they will enter the apt. Usually they leave a note on the door letting you know that they plan to enter the next day. But a lot of the times they just come in without in warning. I have a lot of experience living in apartments. Trust me, if you change the locks and they notice it will piss them off. So better to have no evidence laying around. A lot of it depends on if its privately owned. If you get lucky the owner lives out of town and they apt building doesnt have bug guy in there every month. Last thursday of every month the exterminator used to come in and go in every room in the place. Very annoying, after 3 years of renting I asked the owner If I could ask them not to spray. So for the final year I lived there only if it was a different bug guy would they come in to spray. Basically I couldnt grow at that location. My new place is a lot better. No bug guy and the owner is out of town.

Good luck and be stealthy. Just keep it confined to a closet space or whatever and use odor control.
