You should have never submitted to the impulse to fucking hit her. The fact that you fucking raised a hand in violence to the one you love is a strong indication that you have violent tendencies that you need to seek professional help for. Okay. So basically the exact same thing happened to me and my boyfriend. He was drunk and I had taken his phone away from him and he accidentally scratched me. The neighbors called the po and they came and made me give them his phone, which they used to get him to the police station the next day where he was immediately arrested. There was a no-contact order filed right away and we have been fighting it ever since (it's been about 8 months)

The laws are so fucked up when it comes to this shit. I know it was my fault because I was basically harassing him, and he had never been in ANY trouble before. It all boils down to how much money they can get from people through court/jail fees. The police where I live will do almost ANYTHING in their power to arrest people, even when they know that they didnt really do anything that horrible. I've had my house broken in by the police (yeah, thats a WHOLE other storyI understand that there are cases where women need to be protected from homicidal husbands or whatnot, but how many women are actually arrested for DV? And how many crazy bitches do insane shit to their significant others?

Anyway, I'm rambling. But I seriously doubt that you are a "wife beater". Do take the advice of getting a lawyer (if you can afford one) to go WITH you to the police station. And last, just be careful. Know your rights before you go in there.

I learned a lot of fucked up shit from my schizo parents, but I have never even ONCE seriously entertained the idea of raising a hand to anyone I love (or anyone else for that matter). Your behavior is truly fucked up, and if you don't talk to a counselor at least once (you can take your girl with you if you want, and you two can work it out together), then you deserve to be locked up before this violent behavior escalates even more out of control than it already has. You need a lawyer. My friend had the something happen. The county (the cops) pressed the charges based on both of their original statements. This along with his attitude got him in jail, 1 yr probation, mandatory anger management class and a $5,000 fine/fee (lawyer and fine)
