How Do People Get Busted?

So i was looking around the forums and didnt see a thread about how so many people get caught for growing or smoking weed.So people what are some of the detriments in which people get caught.And further more what are the methods that police use to track down cannabis users?

1.Of course we know about flir helicopters
2.People having alot of traffic at their doorstep
3.Telling people to much information,such as talking about it then the slip of the tongue occurs to the wrong person and then the cops show up to your house,this is one of the biggest reasons i believe.

Those are the 3 that come to mind right away, guys/gals what other methods have you heard of that police are using to bust people?

stranger walks up to a guy and asks to buy a tree, guy thinks weed so he pulls a test so he knows no bust. falls for it busted. NO CLUE you toke mine. all those 3 seem the most probable.

most people smoke in their living rooms. many don't think twice about answering the door when there is a knock. this can lead to problems.

chicks! chicks! chicks! for some damn reason many of us feel compelled to tell pretty ladies we barely know, things that we really shouldn't be telling them or anyone else for that matter. it's the poison! the poison makes us stupid!

uhh i have an issue with chicks im destroying my body with pills right now to show ill try to get ride of my bipolar the lagit way of shit but its causing more problems. whats with chicks and just not being relaxed enough to check the peep hole, or ask. people get in the way. become a hermit. all to your self. hell ill still be your bud if you need someone to talk to. ill throw up my camera and then you can see me no worries on getting pinched i dont need to no anything personal. help a bro out so he dont get pinched

Do you guys think even if someone snitched the cops would break down the door of someone growing 2 plants? lol

It's people that get themselves caught growing 100 damn plants, too greedy, they make it too easy for the cops to just roll in and have a hay day.

With 2 plants I don't think a single jury in America would send you to prison. If anyone on the jury find the law unjust they can vote not guilty and that's all it takes.

Your ego is your own worst enemy. ALMOST without exception, you are going to tell the wrong person, or the wrong person is gonna be privy to enough information to figure you out, and they will either narc you out, or rip you.
And Girlfriends. Ever hear that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? What are you going to do when you break up? The chances are better than average she'll turn you in just to get even.
If you set up your room right, FLIR is a non-issue. The cops rely more on the fear of FLIR as a deterrent, rather than the use of it, as most people don't really understand the technology.
The power company isn't going to turn you in as long as you pay the bill on time, and don't steal power. If the cops start looking at your power bill, they are just adding evidence at that point, you are already on the radar.
Bottom line, tell NOBODY what you are doing. Don't let anyone close enough to even figure it out for themselves. The moment you tell anyone or they figure it out, the clock starts ticking.
There are always exceptions to this, but for the most part that's how almost everyone gets caught. The need to be the "weed man", or the need to be known as "the guy/gal who has the absolute best" weed around. If you don't have a huge ego, you're probably safe. You won't be compelled to tell anyone else.

Yup the ego will get ya.

Got a buddy here in Michigan. Got his card, started growing. In Michigan we are allowed 12 plants for a personal med grow, 2.5oz dried..plenty.

So after his first grow of 6 flowered, (his other 6 in veg) he yields close to a pound. All of a sudden he thinks he's a ganja god. Decides he should become a care giver, and get a couple patients. After all, he says, with 6 plants, and a pound yield every couple months, I can supply them too.

What's he do? Well, he rationalizes, since I'm allowed 12 plants for each of my patients as well, I may as well use the plant count. Increases his grow room size..starts flowering 18 at a time..harvesting 3 lbs every couple months. Far more than he and his 2 patients need.

Ganja god that he has become, (in his mind) he has to find someone to buy all his "overages"...well, needless to say, he gets caught with a couple pounds. He's only allowed 7.5 oz for himself an his patients.

He tries the "it's still curing so it don't count", the "I can't control how much a plant yields" and all the other self serving defenses...and of course loses.

Had he simply picked up the 2 patients...not grown more plants than his original 12 (plenty for all 3 people) he could have had free meds, a nice little profit, and been fine...but nooooo he had to be a ganja god...Ego..a definite killer.

I only know that my ego got taken down several notches!! If you read the stories about any grow busts, almost without exception, the cops relied on or went in on a tip from a confidential source. Power usage may be mentioned, but only as after the fact evidence.

Those same stories will usually show that the growers were "stretching" the med law in their state as well...and if it's NOT a med grow..tell absolutely no one. hell, I don't tell anyone about my legal grow...why would you talk about an illegal one?

only my best friend knew i grew. next thing i know, he married a lady i knew and told her he got his pot from me. i'm a bit pissed but ok. i moved and told him to never bring anybody to my place. he comes over one day and there she is! i'm annoyed but ok. they're married, i like her, everythings cool. last week he called and said they were getting divorced. i gave him i nice i told you so lecture.

My city runs its own electric company. And not only is the PD in the same building as the electric company... They are right next door! lol

Call me paranoid, but I'm thinking info is exchanged at least somewhat freely. but yeah, I hear you. probably mostly pursued after the fact. On the other hand, they are all city workers. I'm sure many are friends. It wouldn't take much for a clerk at the power company to just mention some unusually fat electric bill at some residential address. I'm sure some of those "heavy hitter" electric bills catch the attention of someone even with automated billing systems. I would be very interested in hearing their policy on this, but don't want to be the one to call and ask.

Smart meters will provide a simple way to gather usage statistics. They can simply start by looking at people consuming several times the baseline and burning a few K's an hour all night long.

Only my best friend knew as well, he told friends and he's not my best friend anymore and told everyone in the group of friends how they all turned out males and I would never grow again lol

Biggest reason people get busted, not knowing what to say & what not to say, contract law, sovereignty, letting yourself be tricked, associating yourself with your fiction, which is why they always ask you your name, oldest trick in the book, giving jurisdiction. Simply ask if this is a casual encounter (no not the craiglist section) by asking questions you assert your position, the master, police are employed by the people.

Indulging in too much of your own product is a sure-fire way to get caught.

i noticed that everyone failed to note that a huge amount of drug busts happen due to minor traffic violations. i liked the mention about the ego being the downfall of many dealers, growers and smokers. if ya go about bragging about dealing or growing your basicly sniching on yourself. always be humble, and you wont stumble. ya know if you park a lexis on 24s in front of you pad in the cutt an you eant got a job your askin for trubble. theres also been a huge up in the number of C.I s or confidential informants...alota guys 'll do the crime but cant do the time. I got a wire worn on me last july for extacy by a kid who was butthurt cuz i smashed a cute lil hoe he was all in love with. he wasnt even hooked up with the chick just infatuated with her.. this kid litterally called the state potroll and volenteered to narc me out. i got a 1-2 out of it did about 9 months in prison an now im on p.o for the next 3 years...oh how i miss mary jane.. anyhow peeps usuly get busted for doing somthing stupid; telling for friends, telling your girl (pillow talkin) , not using a turn signal, sayin "oh we dont need a carbon filter" yada yada yada.. even if you follow the rules you can still get caught up. the cops expecialy the drug task force guys hunt us down for a living 24 hours a day 365 days a year. its just a matter of time. where you live matters alot too. where i live in the midwest USA our DA makes a name for himself by busting guys for dime bags.. i met a dude in prison who was there on distribution of trees.. he sold a 1/8th to a CI. got 2-4 years over it. but if you live in a big city like denver, LA, portland ect.. and a cop searches you an finds a quarter the pig 'll just throw it away..they've got more important shit goin on right. i think that if your in the game expecialy dealing then goin a lil time is just part of the life. its just bound to happen.

Sounds depressing.. whatever works for you man, I would just study the law and understand what is and isn't true. that seems to me like the best way.

For everybody that thinks telling people that you grow is cool are dumb fucks. That is not gangster or badass or whatever that just makes you look retarded.

All billing is done by computer and rarely, if ever, get seen by human eyes. Now thats not to say that a slick detective couldn't put a meter reader guy on the payroll. Those "Smart Meters" scare me too. That's real-time monitoring of not only usage, but usage patterns as well. But again, it's all computerized, and rarely get seen by human eyes if the bill is paid on time. It's when the account goes into default that people start looking at it.

ive been alone most of my life so im used to. isolation is just part of life, i dont want it but it just happend. whats gets you caught, selling bags that dont weigh out or giving fake bills back
