You can also get up to life for cultivating one plant. Some good ole boys in Oklahoma and a lot of unmarked graves in the backwoods. The upside you don't run into many snitches, living that is.

How's New York state? Travel through there a lot on route to Vermont (which is very friendly)...be good to know the lay of the land, some shit gets smoked sometimes...

Colorado! In some cities might I add they are still strict on consumption and being stoned in public but many places you can be high and as long as you aren't being an idiot or driving the police won't bother you. Growing seems to be the same " you follow the law and don't bother anyone or distribute and we'll leave you alone" attitude. It's nice but everyone once in awhile you'll get a cranky cop, my buddy got an attempt to distribute charge because he was caught smoking at our local river walk with his brother. He had an 1/8th but was only 20 so they slapped cuffs on him and said it was too much for personal use.
