I have 50/50 custody of my kids (2), my new wife lost her job and the unemployment has run out, we have lost 3 homes that we've been renting due to the home owners letting the homes go to foreclosure. So now I’m down on my luck a little and kind of broke so I moved in with my best friend. My kids are 5 and 9 and we all share a room, it's tight but the kids love it and seem to be doing even better in school. My friend was arrested almost 2 months ago for drunk in public and in 2002 for having a "loaded gun in a truck" I was with him on that one and my x was married to me, we were hunting and he was sitting on a tailgate, it was just a ticket for $200. The x is saying the kids are in danger because of my friends past and that living with 3 adults (me my wife and friend) and 2 other kids my friends kids 2 and 11 (the kids get along great) and wants to have me give up my weeks and got to sat and sun from 9-5 on both days. I pay child suport based on 22% visitation and the court order says 50/50 (I was screwed over the last time we went to court. What do you guys think?

o and i've been taking the kids to see a counselor and she said the kids seem happy with the living arangment

that is a real shame, man. i hope you work it out. do you have an attorney? you really need to have an attorney representing you and your story.

i wouldnt be worried about it to much.. the only thing that they might say is that children that old need to have a room without the parents... and also if it is a boy and a girl then they need to be in diff rooms... so they might say you need 2-3 rooms for things to be okay... i wouldnt be worried about the troubles that your friend has been in. as long as he dont have a gun that the kids can get to or even loaded then there should be no problem ... if it comes to court you have a counselor (3rd party neutral professional ) that can say that the kids are doing good healthy and not having problems with whats going on ... its not effecting them negative... then you might be able to get someone from school (teachers or counselors from school) to show that they are doing better in school and that the kids are fine... im just a 24 yr old with no kids or much experience with this at all (besides mom and step dad going thought custody of little brother and sister) so this is all in my opinion but i feel it is how it would someone go down

right on, the lawer i'm going to use cost $3800 so it's time to save up, cost is a little steep but i alwys say you get what you pay for

yep, you can't put a price on your kids man... and make sure to shoot straight for real... she wants to say they're in danger because of your friends past?.. say... "ummm.. we were hunting and we were sitting on the tailgate of his truck, that's endangerment"... and make her feel retarded... and if the lawyer is smart he'll get statements from the kids' counsilor too saying that they're happy how they are... Hope shit works for ya bro

if i where you i would try to stay clean for a while... no smokeing... i know that might be hard but not very hard if it comes down to your kids... ur new wife should smoke either... they might test you both if ur x knew you smoked then she might try to make you look like a druggie.

i've been clean for 5 years now just watting for ca to go legal, i grew and smoked when i was with my x so i'm part of riu just to offer advice and talk with some cool people. on a side note my oldes child went home sick so the x called and asked my wife to watch her and asked us too keep her over night since she would miss the next doy at school too, kind of funny that was the whole thing of her case "NO OVER NIGHT VISITES"
