Default Not quite Weed related, PayPal
Ok, quick question, does anyone know if paypal has something in it's TOS that allows it to hold onto you bank and card details?

i recently obught some stuff, and once again, the money was taken from a card that was removed years ago. only a yea ago my account was hacked and someone managed to take £400 out of the same card that doesn't exist in my paypla profile.

i asked for it to be removed as at the time i was accidentally doing just this, but it's not stopppppinggg???!

surely this must be a violation of the database protection and security act?

edit: just re-looked over all the transaction details, and it clearly states that it was removing the funds from my card, not the one it actually took em from.

Paypal is bullshit dude, if you were hacked tho they will open an investigation and if they find that someone else hacked your account and took the money by looking at ip addresses etc then they will refund you.

yeah, the money is no isssue, they refunded within seconds.

it's just the principal of the matter, i don't want them to have details of a certain bank account, they are telling me they don't have them when they do. quite evidently

there issn't really a way to argue with paypal, they are always right even if they're not. I would say you should goto your bank and just change the account #. Usually you can do this for free. They will just close that account and then open you up a new one, however if you have direct deposits etc for work going in there, then its gonna be a bitch to get your employeer to set it up all over again.

Default Banks and Feds Investigate PayPal
The people at my bank alerted me, recently, to a lot of fraudulent activity going on with PayPal. There is supposedly some sort of investigation going on by several banking institutions and the feds at this time. I was informed by a certain member of the bank staff that I should consider starting a separate checking account if I am going to continue using PayPal and withdraw any and all money from the checking account that is tied to the PayPal account and leave it empty and deposit funds to the checking account that are sufficient to cover legitimate transactions. This way, you have a new checking account and can keep PayPal and thieves away from it.

Just some info...

Credit card companies are fun to deal with in this regard too. A few years ago I had an issue with a large internet provider here in Canada billing me the full "initial setup fee" of 150 bucks, every month for months on end. Playing nice didn't help, and each time they told me that they'd fix it and it would take 4 to 6 weeks to fix. Oddly enough when I finally sent them an email saying I'd copied all our correspondence to a lawyer they had the money back on my credit card 24 hours later.

Anyway, during the time they were billing my card, I called the credit card company and explained what was happening. They said that for each charge I'd have to wait a specific amount of time before challenging it, which was nonsense. So I asked for the card to be cancelled and a new one to be issued.
No problem. Any old cards that would have charges applied to my new one, for "convenience".
Which is exactly what I didn't want.

I hope that these days, now that identity theft is a buzzword, they're not such mindless dickheads.

And I only use those Vanilla gift cards now. No more credit cards for me.
