Default Salvia Legal, Marijuana Illegal? Why?

I don't understand how Salvia can be legal in most states but marijuana is still Illegal.

Salvia is bad for your health, so I don't see why its legal?

marijuana was made illegal by the textile and oil companies.
It was misrepresented as basically causing white women to have sex with black men. (that much is in the congressional record)
strangely some of the most racist stuff you will ever see is actually in the congressional record from that time period.
marijuana isn't illegal for the reasons they promote in antidrug commercials and service announcements. It's actually it's legitimate applications that got it banned. Salvia has no such applications and therefore was never attacked by the same form of legislation.

Well, again this was a show I was watching. They could be wrong. lol. They said that using Salvia effects your Brain. This was a long time ago, so I can't remember what exactly they were saying.

They were showing Before and After Photos of people who use salvia and the concerns of it.

They were talking about a 16-17 year old who smokes it.
