So, we all know how a regular glass or wood door works when an officer is doing a knock and talk as far as if they smell anything outside the home, they still need more evidence to search.

What if it's like a sliding screen door, or even a hinged screen door. If they smell it outside your home and you have only the screen door shut and locked, can they legally breach your home without a warrant at that point, or do screen doors fall under the same rules as the main door?

Screen doors can be opened with a screwdriver really eaily. The cop could sayit wasn't locked and I'm pretty sure they would have permission to enter if you didn't answer in time. Or if they see you doing it they can bust you.

But they wouldn't.. If they noticed something they'd call for warrants to preserve the case..

if you lock it it is the same. however you are allowing smells and visual clues out the door.
