I recently got caught wiht an oz. i live in ontario, and it was my first offense, also im 18.

i was woundering if anyone has been in the same situation in canada. and what you think will happen to me.

i was thinking a fine and probation or something.. i really do not want fucking community service... just finished 40 for high school.

thing is. it doesnt say the amount of weed i had on me on the court ticket... so like... couldnt i lie and say its a certain amount.

finally.. i dont want my parents to know.. seeing how im still living with them. so was woundering if i really NEEDED a lawyer... i knowi can get 1 for a minimal monthly payment if i cant afford 1... might even be free.

hoping fora slap on the wrist.
any ideas or experience with this?

Since it was your first offence you will be able to get off probably. I was busted in Alberta at a stop check only with an 8th or so and they took a scale of mine. I went to court and the judge asked if I want to talk to an advisor before my hearing. I did that and she said that with a first time offense you can usually get off with certain programs. I was from Regina then (this was about 2.5 years ago) and so they put me in a program called R.A.M.P ( Regina Alternative Measures Program) and basically you do community service ( i had to do 40 hours) and then when you are done ( its a certain limit of time) you go to court again and if all is good the judge wipes the charge and so you have no mark or criminal record.

I would try that in Ontario ex. T.A.M.P (toronto alternative measures program) and see if there is such a thing cause now i can leave the country and dotn have a criminal record on me for such a innocent plant.

My buddy was caught with 3.5 grams, its all the same charge for anything under 30 grams so thats why it does not say the weight, Its just possession of 30 grams or less. He had to pay 400$ to a charity that delt with kids that were challenged.

just the advisor before the hearing, then she set me up with someone to represent me for free because i was not from the town that I had to go to court for. I did not have to spend any money.... i would much rather do 40 hrs community work than pay 400$.

I would rather pay the money, and then be able to WORK for those 40 hours and make more than the 400$ back.

however 40 hours of community service isnt that much, in high school I did over 200 and that was in grade 9 alone. Just think of it as one work week.

This is how it worked for me when I was busted at a frisbee golf course. I had not even a gram and my buddy had the pipe. I was fined 150.00 for possession of illegal substance. I would of had the same fine if I had 29.9 grams. I wouldn't sweat it, as long you're not on probation or a multiple offense person.

thats what im hoping for... small fine... maybe i can get it reduced too... i got my underage drinking one reduced... but i didnt have to go to court for that....

small fine or just probation would be my top choice.
