Awww, are you kidding me? I thought Canada was more lenient in regards to all things cannabis than it's downstairs neighbor (US)? Mandatory sentences for pot offenses in Canada? Fuuuuuck. That's too bad =( Nobody should have to go to jail for pot.

Hope everything turns out ok for you, OP. I've been arrested on possession a few times. Once it cost me $500 plus court costs, probably around $1000 total. I was already on felony probation (actually, I was in jail for violating my probation by the time they convicted me) so I guess they didn't really think community service or a diversion program were for me at that point, LOL. Jail time all suspended, like it mattered. Another time I actually ended up serving 1 day in jail, and I think I paid $250 fine that time, but I hired an attorney which cost me $2,500 because they were trying to pull some double jeopardy shit on me and charge me twice for the same bag of pot.

Honestly, I'd rather serve a couple days in jail than have to deal with probation or community service. I can sleep through a few days in jail, no problem.

Theres not mandatory sentences yet, and theres still a slight chance this bill will not be passed. but it probabaly will. I dont know if anybody else has looked at it much, but theres a one year mandatory for hash making included in it..... six months for dealing, six months for growing 1-200 plants.

You shoulda asked for adult diverion, then you wouldnt have a criminal record for the rest of your life or untill you get a queen's pardon.

My first offence I got off lucky. Cop grabed my bag (Only an 8th) Opened it, smelled it, looked her over a bit and said "have a nice day sir" and just took it haha. 18 years old and shitting myself haha
