I'm moving out of an apartment building into a house. It is just 2 BR, single family house-just me living there. Im a little concerned about my landlord though-he said he may show up once in a while, but may call first. Is there a law regarding landlord's just barging in on their tenants? Ive never had it happen before....

Most places are a min. of 24hrs contact your local rentalsman or equivalant and AFTER you move in let him know he will need to provide you with 24hrs or what ever it is notice. BTW Notice where ever I have been HAS to be in writing NOT a phone call!

This isn't the best way to find out what the law really says, as some crooked landlords will put illegal clauses in their rental agreements because the tenants usually don't know any better.
At least 24 hours notice is common in most states. Some states require the notice in writing, some don't. Regardless of whether they have to give you notice and how much they have to give you, if the landlord sees your grow and calls the police you're basically screwed. No matter that the landlord was on the property illegally. Just make sure your grow is out of sight, preferably behind locks that your landlord doesn't have a key to. Tell your landlord that you have a large reptile (in a cage, of course) but that you prefer to keep the room locked just in case he happens to escape his cage, or something like that. |
