We were out on a nice little camping trip this last weekend at a northern California lake. Rather than smoking at the campsite, we decided to grab our fishing poles, and drove to the other end of the lake where it was completely desolate. Not another human in sight, or sound. We baited up and casted out in hopes of catching that big one. Now we are ready to just take in the sights and smells of the great outdoors. I opened up my tackle box and pulled out my pipe and a small bud about the size of a marble. I broke the bud in half putting half into the pipe, and the other half back into the tackle box. We each took one decent hit and returned the pipe back to the tackle box as well. Within about fifteen minutes, a large storm cell came over head and treated us to a spectacular light show, and filled the air with that super sweet smell of ozone. Everything is completely Serene and peaceful.
Than out of nowhere a game warden and a deputy sheriff walked up on us. chests out, power trip egos in high gear. "We have been watching you guys share a pipe of marijuana". The game warden reached down opening up the tackle box, and pulled out the pipe and remaining half bud. They searched us, than walked us back to our truck and searched it, finding nothing else. By this time the storm has moved right over head. Not such a pretty picture anymore. the relaxed calmness has turned into a sick angry mood. The deputy says, "what are we supposed to do with you guys, we can't let you drive since your under the influence of marijuana". We said just give us a warning and we will be happy to take the three mile walk back to our camp. The two got together in their little huddle whispering their little nothings to one another, trying to look intimidating, than walked back over to us and said, "OK we are going to let you drive and we will follow you back to your camp". Well back at camp they searched around our site for a few minutes finding nothing else. The deputy suggested braking the pipe and be done with it, but that wasn't good enough for the game warden. He broke out the ticket book and cited each of us for possession. In all rights he should have cited himself for allowing us to drive under the influence back to camp. When I say these guys came out of nowhere, I mean they had to be hiding in the trees or in a freaking hole in the woods, just waiting and hoping to bust someone. I seriously cant believe they don't have better things to do than fuck with people for smoking a little weed on vacation.
We all received a mandatory court date in the mail with a fine of $460.00 a piece. I thought the max fine for possession of less than an ounce of pot in the state of California was $100.00. Needless to say, once I am done with this court shit, I will never spend another dime in the not so great state of California.

Damn of all places I thought CA would be one of the more lenient states, but what do I know I'm in New York, $460 for smoking a bowl, ouch. I've smoked and been caught in way worse places and just had my stash taken or told I need to toss it, which always amazed me, isn't that littering? o_O

Dang that sucks. Maybe they were peter puffers and you broke up their date?

Fuck 'em get high do what you want... Any cop thats going to write you a ticket for some laughable quantity is probably a rookie and wont even show up in court for it lest he be laughed at the whole time by the judge.

too bad for you u got a dick cop yea but go to court if they dont show u might be able to get it throw out right to face ur accusor and u both could say it was tobbacco and the cops are fucking crazy but look up rules on right to face ur accusor and u might be able to get it droped yea in cali u can still get a ticket with court date but since its medical most pot heads spend the 100 bucks to get a remcommendation obiously cheapier than the 400 dollar ticket u got even if i smoked 5 times a year i would still keep a current recomendation but i think our law needs to be redone we shouldnt have to renew every year

BUT... either they were already way out there by their selfs, OR...they followed you out there. Either way, that's creepy as hell. They're lucky as hell not to have been shot.
One just doesn't go moving stealthily about the woods at night around here.
I don't know if it's legal in Cali to camp armed, but from the sound of things and what I read, it sure oughtta be.
