I had a public defender in my juvenile days that was actually smokin hot.
I was 16 at the time and wanted nothing more than to fuck the shit out of her haha. I mean I had been in juvi for 6 months at that point and hadn't seen a chick for 5 months so that may have had something to do with it

The Public Defenders office exists solely to pay lip service to fulfilling your right to an attorney.
Even IF they were to do as diligent a job as possible, a PD's case load does not allow for enough time to vigorously defend each client. No possible way. A Public Defender can only spend an average of about an hour or two per case. There is no way toe mount a defense in that time frame.

Almost everyone who goes to trial with a PD has perfectly good grounds for an appeal due to ineffective assistance of counsel.

Public Defenders are worthless lawyers who couldn't make a real career out of their skill sets. Think bottom 30% of the class.

They aren't doing well enough for themselves to not be stuck there so you gotta realize they aren't the cream of the crop. They are generally, like stated earlier, fat ugly slobs who can hardly dress themselves in the morning. You are either going to get "the new guy/girl" and if you don't you should be even more worried, this person's been stuck as a PD for how long?

Get a lawyer, as stated above also, talk to a few, find one that you think is willing to help. Your best option is going to be some kind of negotiation.

There may be a bit of truth to what you're saying, but I would respectfully disagree with much of it. True, some PD's are overworked and should spend more time on certain cases. That doesn't necessarily mean the end result would be any different. PD's usually received grades in the top 3rd of their law school class. Some of them had a passion for representing "the downtrodden" while they were still in school, and becoming a PD was, in their minds, a huge achievement. Many of them leave the PD's office after 4 - 5 years and open their own criminal defense firm, or get hired by a local firm. This creates an obvious incentive for them to have the best track record they can while they are learning the ropes in the PD's office.

In any event, the facts of this particular crime are basic and the laws are most likely straightforward. I didn't hear anything to suggest that there is some dispute over what the facts were. The facts and law will not change no matter how much you spend on an attorney. Any reasonably prudent PD should be able to handle this matter effectively.

I'm not suggesting that you don't hire an attorney. If you can afford an attorney, you should. In fact, if you can afford an attorney then you may not qualify for the assistance of the PD's office. I'm just saying that there are highly qualified, conscientious, hard working attorneys working as PD's.

it will be a slap on the wrist with a manditory UNsupervised probation keep your nose clean or make it seem so for 2 years and you will be all good

You're actually lucky this happened before the passing of Bill C-15 which is in the senate now. Those three clones could have got you a mandatory minimum of 1 year. The Bill is a step in the wrong direction of course but there is faint hope that it will not pass. While the rest of N America has started to see the light, Canada is trying to show a tough on drugs stance. I'm not sure what to tell you about PD's but your best bet is to try to cut a deal. IMHO this is the wrong time for you to make a stand. The UN just released a report today blaming Canada for most of the worlds drug problems. And that's why I'm a proud Canadian!!

Do you have any medical recommendations in canada? how does it work over there.
