I live in the SF Bay Area , and just got a medical card . How many plants can I legally grow ? What if my friend also gets a card and we grow together , then how many can we legally grow ? tia

It depends on where exactly you live in the Bay Area. A google search will tell you, I think CalNorml has a page that shows by city/county. If it is not listed you default to the state minimum which is 12 immature, 6 mature, and posses no more than 8oz dried flowers. As I read the law, It is a total of 12 plants, with a max of six in flower...I believe there is an "or" not an "and" between the 12 and 6...but my Dr. says it is 12 veg and 6 flower...this is about what I do.

That being said...from memory...City of SF...25 plants...Oakland 64sqft of canopy indoors, 6 outdoors. again if your city/county does not have an agreement the default is the 12/6. My Doc says if the filthy swine do by chance visit your grow, they often just cull your garden to the 12/6 if you have a couple extra and write a citation...knock on wood...stay away piggies!

Oh and those #'s are for each patient recommendation, whether they live there or you are a caregiver. You could grow more if you provide medicine to other patients who do not grow.

What exactly does 25 feet of canopy mean ? Luckily it says or so I will just go by 24 plants and not care about canopy . But I would like to know what it means .

It is 64 sqft of canopy in Oakland, which means something like 8' x 8' flower room.

The "25" is a plant count in the City of SF.

WOW ! Just when I thought I understood the deal you post that . But the article is a year old . And it sounds like there can be no limit . I am not going to push my luck on that one . So if I am growing in SF and have less than 24 plants per certificate there should be no problems , correct ? Or am I missing something ? I guess this is why no one will give me a straight answer . Thanx for the input guys !

there is no limit set in stone but the recommended ceiling is 6 veg 6 bloom some say 12 veg 6 bloom i would stick with 12 total. some counties allow more. if you are living with another med card carrier then you can have 24 total and so on. you can also be a designated caregiver for other patients which means you can grow 12 for each patient you are a caregiver for but you have to have there doctors papers posted with your grow im not entirely certain how that aspect works.

So you would stick to 6/6 even if your growing in SF ? Where they set the limit @ 24 plants or 25' of canopy .
